Oprah's Favorite Things: The Over-The-Top Crowd Reaction (VIDEO)

Favorite Things

It's the loudest, most insane crowd Oprah gets each year. Today was her annual "Favorite Things" episode, in which an unsuspecting audience gets about twenty Oprah-approved items for free, just in time for the holiday season. From a refrigerator with a built-in TV to a book, Macon, GA screamed their heads off for it all.
The jumping, the yelling, the crying and the praying, edited for your enjoyment.

From ABC, 11/20

Hmmm.. I sense a little envy here, folks. The Macon GA people were in the right place at the right time. Luck. I'd have taken it and so would most of you!

Gee, I wish I could have been in the audience.

I'd eBay that shit so fast and use the money to pay my bills. TV refrigerator indeed.... all I see is a year's worth of water and electricity.

The audience is nuts, yes, but this woman has done more for others than anyone on this blog has. What's greedy about giving things away? She's rich, famous, and she does help people. There's nothing wrong with being a success.

Sorry, worshipping at the altar of luxury consumer goods and materialism is not spiritual (as she claims she is). She did one show last year on the health care crisis, in which 50 million Americans are uninsured. Why doesn't her show tackle real urgent issues more, like what's happening in/to this country that's shocking, these last six years?

Read on…one page is more than enough…for a revealing look at a sad segment of our society. A woman with money chooses to give gifts once a year to loyal viewers (in addition to her many other charitable causes) – and that’s all it takes for this ‘arrested development’ crowd to spew forth unwarranted nastiness, poorly-concealed envy masquerading as self-righteous indignation, and malicious rants against people they don’t even know. It is a startling collection of brain farts – and other foul emissions – from a group of very small people!

The video reminded me of one of those televangelist programs back before all the scandals. I suppose for some there is no greater orgasmic thrill than getting something for nothing.

ook, No one knows what is in this woman's heart but this woman, and no one should deny that she has done outstanding acts of charity in the past. All I would say is that her public persona can be a bit off-putting. Yes, she is absolutely to be commended for making such a success in her professional life. Hats off to her for talent and determination. But she is also capable of appearing very self-righteous and (this is the killer for me) absoutely humorless about herself. Oprah does cultivate a personality cult, and some of the fans who worship at her shrine are a bit too prone to idolatry. It's none of my business who anyone else choses to admire, but for me Oprah is not nearly as big deal as she seems to feel she shoul be. I wish her nothing but good fortune, but her show is unwatchable for me.

What a vulgar display of greed. Oprah has once again proven herself to be the queen of self-promotion and chicanery, and her rabid audience of chubby, pathetic housewives literally froths at the mouth at the prospect of being treated to Oprah's "favorite things." Imagine their orgasmic bliss at receiving the HDTV refrigerator, a device that cleverly and conveniently combines their two favorite activities: packing their jowls and fawning over their heroine.

It's a good thing that Oprah doesn't give a shit about what any of you think.
