I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Tom Cruise Will Smith

From a Men's Vogue profile on Will Smith:

"I've studied Buddhism and Hinduism and I've studied Scientology through Tom. And nobody's saying anything different! Look, I use the Bible to explain the ideas of God, and life, and love, and relationships, and the life of Jesus Christ to teach my children how to defend their spirit. But in all of the experiences I've had with Tom [Cruise] and Scientology, like, 98 percent of the principles are identical to the principles of the Bible. The Bible says, Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. And you know, there's a Scientology principle: Do not create experiences for others that they cannot comfortably perceive." Smith would rather stroll many paths to enlightenment than commit to one high road. "The Bible talks about your spirit being immortal, that you were created for existence beyond your physical body. Well, that's no different from Scientology! I don't think that because the word someone uses for spirit is thetan that the definition becomes any different."

Smith offers a baffling, nonsensical defense of Scientology. He contends that some of Scientology's "principles" are identical to those of the Bible.

Hey Will, in case it escaped you, Scientology emerged about 2,000 years after the Bible. That would make Scientology a feeble imitation at best, and more accurately, plagiarism. Have your kids look that word up in the dictionary -- if they're allowed in your home school.

Well, almost. It's like the Bible if the Bible had been written by a hack science fiction writer.

Will, amazing how easily you can be convinced you are hearing what you WANT to hear.
Scientology is a cult.
Celebrities are drawn to it because it pormises them some false reality. It promotes and protects the false reality that the celebs are desperately attempting to sell themselves and their audience.
In the sense that Christianity is often a draw to former addicts and porn stars and "bad" boys and girls because it promises to cleanse their sins, I can see the similarity. OK. So maybe it's "much the same" in that regard. But the basic principles (as perverted and corrupted as they have been) are NOT even close.

Since he's so busy being a megastar, I guess Will Smith hasn't noticed this. If Scientology is like the Bible, then why do Scientology offices refuse to put their name on recruiting ads? If they're so wonderful then why are they ashamed to put their name on these?

Also, doesn't it bother anyone that it seems like more and more of the haves (Will Smith being one) are home schooling their kids? Of course that's their right. But on the other hand, the rich keep their kids out of what we all know is a crumbling school system. And meanwhile the rest of us deal with rundown schools, underpaid teachers, the ridiculous No Child Left Behind crap and more. Maybe Will should use his influence (his movies make money than his boy Tom's movies, after all)to point out stuff like this.

Personally I don't think Tom Cruise is a good actor and never has been. And could anyone be fuller of himself. He is right up there with Donald Trump and Bill O'Reilly. John Travolta is just creepy weird. That tells me all I need to know about Scientlogy. These "Hollywood stars" like to make religions trendy just like they do fashion, hairstyles, cars, rehab centers, and adoption. They are the ones that are out of touch with reality.

Oh no! Will say it ain't so! Theys got you too?!?!?

"And you know, there's a Scientology principle: 'Do not create experiences for others that they cannot comfortably perceive.'""

Uh, well, what explains Tom Cruise movies? I can't comfortably perceive them without heavy doses of vicadin. He's violating the rule... off to re-education camp for him and some heavy rinse in the brain department.

Ugh.

Everyone has a right to believe what they want to in this country, but how do Scientologists not see how ridiculous this stuff is, and yes, all organized religions are ridiculous. But Scientologists are EXACTLY like Star Trek "Trekkies" except Scientologists are deluded enough to think thier Science Fiction is real.

I haven't seen a Tom Cruise movie since "Eyes Wide Shut" because his movies are terrible. I also will never go to a Tom Cruise movie because of his crazy religion and life. he is a maniac. I now add Will Smith to that list.

I also do not see John Travolta movies or Mel Gibson. I use my money to support my viewpoints and politics, and I will continue to do so.
