Barry Bonds' penchant for turning longtime friends into bitter enemies might come back to hurt him in at least two significant ways at trial.

First, there's Steve Hoskins. He was once Bonds' closest friend and served as best man at the slugger's first wedding.

This vendetta against Bonds is almost comical if someone will not go to jail. We have all all of these athletes mentioned in one form or another as having used steriods, from Roger Clemens to Merriman, yet we hear nothing.

Do they still bother with the National Anthem?

All you have to do is read about the drastic change in Bonds' jersey size and hat size within a few years, and there's NO DOUBT he was taking steroids and HGH. Also, some people with a knowledge of batting mechanics have stated that Bonds' supposed "arm guard" is an extremely well-designed stabilization device, that would help anyone improve their batting by dramatically increasing bat control through the forward swing.

Bottom line: He's a dirty cheat, and should NEVER get near Cooperstown!

As much as I hate A-Rod, I hope I live long enough to see him erase Bonds' from the record books...

Couldn't they have indicted this clown before he "broke" Hank Aaron's record?

It's called karma, Barry.

This is a society that rewards taking risks to achieve market advantage, and that is all Bonds is guilty of. No argument to the contrary holds water.

The parks have changed dimensions, rotations have gotten longer, relief pitching is more specialized and the game continues to evolve. Records are broken, and who finds sanctity in the austerity of numbers.

But Bonds cheated, no?

Bonds did not cheat, and not only did he not cheat, he did what hundreds of other ballplayers were doing and not breaking Major League Baseball's rules up until 2003: He juiced, they juiced, they all juiced.

Homers fill the seats

The secret is Major League Baseball loved the juice because homers fill the seats. Where are all the asterisk fans clamoring for additional credit to those hitters who hit them off of juiced pitchers? Has anyone noticed the sharp decline in velocity over the last couple years or are we all too ignorant? Bonds should get extra credit for hitting homers off juiced pitchers if we want to be fair and just.

Where's the outrage for the Paul Byrds of the world, no soapbox speeches for him?

Our society is driven by rampant drug use and we make amorphous distinctions that fail to stand up to logic. People take painkillers to get back to work sooner. We applaud athletes who risk further injury by jacking themselves up on painkillers and "playing through the pain" for our entertainment -- those guys are heroes.

And that's all Bonds did.

Why is it anathema for Bonds to take drugs to improve his ability to do his job, double his income and entertain us in the process? It's not (though I'm sure none of you would take a drug to help you improve your abilities at work and possibly quadruple your income).

We let people risk their lives every day by drinking and smoking, which have no benefit other than personal enjoyment, but Bonds' improving his skills through medication is a moral outrage!?

Inconsistency

It's cheap, hypocritical and phony, but Americans need their villains, and Bonds fits the bill.

Has no one learned anything over the last little while. All Bonds, his best friend or anyone else who must go in front of a judge, a grand jury or any other enquirer, or prosecutor, must say,is, " I do not recall, I don't remember, I can't seem to place that". If it is good enough for an Attorney General, it is good enough for anyone!

I'm just surprised they could find anyone who admitted to being his friend.

Like former President Johnson said upon signing the civil rights bill; When you take a horse that has been locked away in a pasture with no exercise, with improper nutrition, then race him against a horse with proper nutrition and exercise, it isn't truly a race at all. Sort of like the advantage in the laws the wealthy of this country have going for them. If you have the problem of extreme wealth in this country, how do you hide your liabilities? Why you form a corporation of course. That way, if someone wishes to sue you, the money belongs to the corporation and not you(of course you're still the 100% shareholder/owner). The integrity factor in sports entities owned by millionaires is vital to the impression on america's yahoos that this country is one whose laws are fair and just for all. Yeah, right!! If they, through the media they own like fox, cnn, etc., and the U.S. attorneys whom they control, are going to demand accountability from players like Bonds, we demand a fair playing field in the field of business form corporations too. No more 'person' status for corporations. No more hiding of assets under corporate law. You want to be rich? Well, there's responsibility and yes, LIABILITY, for being rich. Anything else is just plain hypocrisy on the part of those going after Bonds. The commissioner, the U.S. attorney, and their backers remind me of the Tribunal that went after Socrates.

HARD TO KNOW...

Sometimes I think people like Bonds actually kid themselves, in his case into actually thinking that he IS innocent. But personally, I think the whole pro sports steroid scandal is bogus anyway. Let them USE steroids, for god's sake, and just deal with it. It would make sports more exciting anyway. Who cares about a bunch of antique "records"?...

I don't understand why Bonds
let this go this far.

His brain must be atrophied.

So many people so pissed off at him
and can't wait to testify.

He should have copped a plea a while ago.
