USA Today :

At least 20,000 U.S. troops who were not classified as wounded during combat in Iraq and Afghanistan have been found with signs of brain injuries, according to military and veterans records compiled by USA TODAY.

The data, provided by the Army, Navy and Department of Veterans Affairs, show that about five times as many troops sustained brain trauma as the 4,471 officially listed by the Pentagon through Sept. 30. These cases also are not reflected in the Pentagon's official tally of wounded, which stands at 30,327.

Are the reports from Iraq, facts, evidence and information being skewed and spinned? Anyone with an I.Q. above an amoeba knows for sure.
The only hope I have for this country is that REAL news, facts, figures, reports will make it to the light of day, including this one by USA Today, Keith Olbermann's Countdown and a few other brave souls who haven't yet been bought off, intimidated, outed or illegally detained.
It's high time the press & media start doing their jobs and be journalists, not acting like political allies of the AIPAC, PNAC, RNC. Either that, or go work for them directly as their lobbyists. The only place I can get REAL trust-worthy news is from the foreign news services.
While we claim we still have a Constitution, it seems free speech, freedom of the press, along with many other civil and legal rights that used to be guaranteed, are long-gone.
Is the death and injury toll higher in Iraq than what the government wants us to know? For sure. Is the actual monetary cost much higher than the $800-billion? It's estimated this war is going to cost nearly $3.5-trillion, including interest, veteran's benefits (scaled down as they are), and all those no-bid contracts Bush & Cheney are profiting from.
Please tell me....does anyone care?

"The top U.S. commander in northern Iraq, Army Maj. Gen. Mark P. Hertling, warned earlier this month that northern Iraq has become more violent than other regions as al-Qaida and other militants move there to avoid military operations elsewhere."

As Condi would say, no one could have predicted that in guerilla warfare, guerillas would attack where there are fewer US forces.

There is another thing that no one should expect - that guerillas would hide for as just long as there is a massive US military presence.

So, for how long do we plan to maintain this surge?

When and how would this all end?

As MajorKong has said repeatedly, "We can't outlast the Iraqis in Iraq. They live there."

Ok OTP, what's your point?

Can you articulate it without cutting and pasting?

Use your own words...

Let's cut the spam... discuss it, so you can be shown the error of your ways and life can continue.

Trolls support the troops? As Queefboy demonstrates by destroying one of the few threads devoted to them in a while now, they can't even muster up a bit of respect for them. Pigs.

AND A LOT OF IRAQ DEATHS ARE LEFT OFF THE DEAD LIST...

Apparently, you are only counted as being a military death in the U.S. occupation of Iraq if you actually DIE WHILE PHYSICALLY IN IRAQ. Military personnel who die on a hospital plane taking off from Baghdad aren't counted, nor are those who die in military hospitals outside Iraq from wounds received IN Iraq. I have read estimates that the true number of U.S. military deaths both during combat IN Iraq and from wounds received WHILE in Iraq is closer to 10,000 (possibly more) than the figure approaching 4,000 that is currently being released. I am not making this up. This combat-deaths reporting methodology was actually noted in a non-classified Pentagon report a while back.
