20,000 Brain Injuries Left Off Pentagon's Iraq Wounded List

USA Today :

At least 20,000 U.S. troops who were not classified as wounded during combat in Iraq and Afghanistan have been found with signs of brain injuries, according to military and veterans records compiled by USA TODAY.

The data, provided by the Army, Navy and Department of Veterans Affairs, show that about five times as many troops sustained brain trauma as the 4,471 officially listed by the Pentagon through Sept. 30. These cases also are not reflected in the Pentagon's official tally of wounded, which stands at 30,327.

Over the years, I've heard statistics about how troops are being left off of injured status lists, just like this event, but I can't find any statistics or reference pages on that. Can someone point me in the right direction? I have some friends who don't believe it, and I would love to give them some evidence.

Who'd a thunk, the Pentagon avoiding responsibility for troops injured while in their wars. Why? It's so simple and obvious that it's insulting. Their are no kickbacks to government officials for pentagon monies being spent on the troops who were injured while in their service.Th­e monies going to the private contractors is very favorable for graft and corruption to government officials and especially pentagon officials getting jobs with defense contractors after leaving government service. It's that simple.
