AP:

Conservative Prime Minister John Howard suffered a humiliating defeat Saturday at the hands of the left-leaning opposition, whose leader has promised to immediately sign the Kyoto Protocol on global warming and withdraw Australia's combat troops from Iraq.

Labor Party head Kevin Rudd's pledges on global warming and Iraq move Australia sharply away from policies that had made Howard one of President Bush's staunchest allies.

Howard didn't support the U.S.A.. Howard supported the administration of George Bush. That's not the U.S.A..

Howard was a master manipulator and conman who used fear and lies to win elections and was well on his way to socially and economically “cleansing” Australia in a way which could have eventually lead to perpetual rule by an ever extreme right.

The "Bushiness" of Howard was the - straight out of Goebbel's think-tank - Pacific Solution, in which war refugees from Afghanistan and Iraq, boat people seeking the Freedom so important to President Bush and Howard, in 2002, were denied entry into Australia and sent to the remotest of Pacific islands -Nauru and Christmas Island- to sit and bake in the sun for an indeterminate time. Not as brutal as GitMo but cruel nonetheless, especially since the men, women and children were not considered terrorists. Just Muslims.

Rudd called him out in front of the entire Australian parliament, holding up Howard for much deserved ridicule. Like bush, Howard had brought shame to Australia's government and Rudd appropriately let loose with both barrels.

Congrats to Rudd and all of Australia.

Perhaps we should have funneled a bit more cash to the Coalition of the Willing to be Bought.

Yes, the left is so eager to sign Kyoto....the failed environmental treaty that never had a chance. even Japan has failed to follow it. But the radicalized left see it as a symbol of their dominance over the political system if they can force a disastrous environmental treaty on their nations.

Al Qaeda and it's radicalized left wing supporters in the west may win yet?

Interesting to watch the 'coalition of willing' allies -- which I think would've been best been indentified more like the 'handful of the misguided' allies -- evaporating.

Surely Bushco has gotten the message, however, doubtful that the dangerous, selfish fools actually give a crap.

Aside from this: am I the only one who percieved PM John Howard as one really strange dude.

Quick! Sign the Kyoto protocol so we can not live up to them just as the Euros who signed it are not living up to it.

.
The election was anti-Bush as much as anti-Brown.
.
The Aussies has spoken - they do not want to be called "Austrian", when this illiterate US President thank them for the "Austrian troops". Bush mistakenly called the Australian troops as "Austrian troops".
