John Howard

AP:

Conservative Prime Minister John Howard suffered a humiliating defeat Saturday at the hands of the left-leaning opposition, whose leader has promised to immediately sign the Kyoto Protocol on global warming and withdraw Australia's combat troops from Iraq.

Labor Party head Kevin Rudd's pledges on global warming and Iraq move Australia sharply away from policies that had made Howard one of President Bush's staunchest allies.

It's bad enough Republicans lied Americans into this phony war, and then made us watch them LOSE it.

But why should Aussies and Poles die for a Republican war?

Let the 24% war supporting cowardly Repubs go.

Sen. Bob Corker (R-TN), explaining what he meant when he said he was "underwhelmed" by White House discussions on Iraq that he had participated in:
"I just felt a little bit underwhelmed by our discussions, the complexity of them, the depth of them."
Do tell. What a shock. Your party runs a moron for president, you pull every trick in the book to install the moron as president, and then you're disappointed to find that you have a moron in the presidency.

A question has been on my mind for some time now...and we seem to have a knowledgeable group here, so I'm gonna put this out there!!

When GWB issued his Executive order back on July 17; "Blocking Property of Certain Persons Who Threaten Stabilization Efforts in Iraq"
why wasn't Hunt Oil of Texas called on the carpet?? They signed a contract with the Kurds, which clearly pissed off the Iraqi government...and now Shahristani says these companies will be blacklisted.

Is it REALLY so simple the since Hunt and Bush are friends/business associates, everyone just looks the other way??

I don't get it??!!

THE LIB TEST
Ok, libs here have been calling President Bush a fascist, mass murderer, Nazi, war criminal. This is as clear as the earth is round to the libs. Yet the only Dem candidate that I know of that has publically said anything close to that is Kucinich. Therefore the rest of the Dem candidates either don't believe it or do and are silent cowards. What can't they see what you libs see? Therefore you libs have a choice, either be principled and vote for Kucinich or by voting for any other Dem candidate in the primaries or the general election, you effectively renounce Bush as all of the above. Or you choose politics over principle.

"The Australians are much more educated than the general American population." Where did you get that idea?

Advisers to Senators Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama say that the candidates have watched security conditions improve after the troop escalation in Iraq and concluded that it would be folly not to acknowledge those gains. At the same time, they are arguing that American casualties are still too high, that a quick withdrawal is the only way to end the war and that the so-called surge in additional troops has not paid off in political progress in Iraq.

Then when the violence restarts they will turn again. The Iraqi government is being propped up by an occupying army, nothing else has changed.

I never ceases to amaze me the amount of people who have had there careers either destroyed or permanently tarnished by supporting that idiot Bush.

Howard, Blair, Powell, Tenant, Mclellan, Tony "Snowjob", The Republican Party (lol), etc..

That in itself speaks volumes of what a complete failure Bush has been as President.

He is the most despised world leader on the planet without question

conservatives suck, any one with 1/2 a brain knows that. There is a golden opportunity for mankind to move into the 21st century, don't blow it dems/libs/progressives/humanitarians.

There never was a "coalition of the willing", just like there never was an imminent threat posed by Saddam Hussein and his big bad arsenal of weapons of mass destruction, like everything else that has come out of the Bush administration, it was pure manufactured propaganda.

A more accurate description of the countries that agreed to send troops to Iraq would the "coalition of the grandstanding opportunists", for they were all hoping to reap some sort of financial reward in return for their loyalty to heir Bush.

It is a bitter-sweet victory to see the Bush administration go down in flames, to watch their house of cards collapse in embarrassing fashion - but it is a victory nonetheless.
