Hillary Clinton's campaign is capitalizing on an overlooked strain of feminism in blue-collar women - nurse's aides, factory workers, farmers, and single mothers - to help fuel her strength among the Democratic candidates for president.

Even many working-class women who have spent their lives in traditional roles at home and work have been animated by Clinton's effort to shatter what she has called "the highest, hardest glass ceiling."

In recent interviews, some of these Clinton supporters say that they have been impressed enough by her advocacy for healthcare and children to jettison their previous views of her as a brash, ambitious lawyer and politician. Some said a female president would do things not just differently, but better.

Clinton knows she needs these key demographics to vote for her, and is working around the clock to win in Iowa. We know that Iowa will set the tone for her, and she knows it too, which is why she's been spending millions recently in Iowa to stay the front runner.

Sorry, I'm a blue collar woman, but I just don't see the reality of Clinton for president, or for that matter Obama. Honestly, I'm just sick of the media shoving the two of them down my throat! Obviously, the media has decided which candidates the public should be interested in....

Talk about voting against your own self interest.
Hillary, like Bill and Bush-Reagan will continue to sell out Americans in favor of big money and business.
Hillary will send more jobs overseas...it is not the Republicans and Democrats; it is the Big Money politicians versus the politicians who still support American Freedom and Prosperity.
All the Presidential candidates except Kucinch, paul and just maybe Edwards are going to screw you over in favor of Big Business interests.
Hillary will sell your job overseas.

Vote Kucinich ...he has always supported thye American people and said what he believes.
Hillary will say anything to be elected...so will all the Republicans excepting Paul.

Mrs. Clinton does appeal to these women who desperately want more social programs. The problem will come when she starts more wars of aggression that will cost a fortune and these poor people's programs will have to be sacrificed. I pray these women will also make peace a priority not just their programs.

This is one blue collar woman who will never vote for Hillary Clinton under any circumstances. I want someone who has some values, someone who says what he or she believes and not what is poll tested, and someone who had my core beliefs as a Democratic voter. Clinton does not have any of these things.

I am certain Hillary Clinton's visit meant a lot to these women as Hillary Clinton has done more for women than any other First Lady has ever done beside Eleanor Roosevelt. Besides being a very effective and gracious First Lady who when she left office was highly respected by the American public. In addition Hillary Clinton has been elected twice as a US Senator from New York, and has been an effective Senator respected by her fellow Senators. No matter whether she wins or loses the Democratic Nomination, she has made history for all women by being the first credible woman to ever run for the Office of Presidency, and she has a genuine shot at it. For that she needs to be respected. She has suffered more insults and hate than other candidates simply because she is a woman - now that is a sad commentary on those who prefer to hate rather than to possess reason.

If Hillary Clinton is successful, she will liberate many women, because so many of her bills and legislation in Congress have concerned the welfare of women and children in the country.

One thing is certain - women turning out in massive numbers will decide who will be the next President and the next Congress. If Hillary inspires women to vote - more power to her- for restoring the balance of power!

Well, they'd be voting against their own economic interest and long-term health and security.

That's the irony of all this. And the real sadness of the choices.

There isn't any.

Makes you feel people are
quietly walking away from
the train wreck.

They were partly responsible
for it, but will be darned if
they are going to own up
to that accountability thing.

Things just move too fast in time
anymore
to get away with.

Yeah I agree, If they only knew the real Hillary, she will sell you for a slice of bread just to get a vote. Most black people think they are going to be getting Bill Clinton. They better wake up.

Hillary can not go to a Black church by herself. All of these years she being with her husband she can not connect with the black voters by herself. Not in a large crowd of people. She is not use to being around all people. This is why I think most black people are being fooled by her phoniness.

Why now she was not there before. When was the last time you seen her in a black community during her husband term of president. Name me one time. I want pictures times and dates. Good luck.

i do wish that someone would ask her whether she hired these working class women to care for chelsea or clean her house? did she help them try to advance themselves? she would be the WORST for a working class woman because to me she seems like a total witch who only surrounds herself with a bunch of feminist snobs. wake up working class woman, she's not the candidate for you!

lol. the only thing clinton would know about blue-collar anything is the color of her husband's stones on a friday night and the collar he left his mark on some blue dress, or, maybe a mcdonalds drivethru.

This one I really can't understand how regular working women and African Americans think that Hillary is the best representative for them. When was the last time Hillary was an average working woman or a black woman. Did I miss the memo on that one?
I grant you that it has been the tradition of most Democratic Presidents to look out for the little guy and all of the Democratic candidates are running on that fact. But this pure adulation for someone who has never walked in those shoes is a mystery to me and I am a woman.
How can someone who grew up middle to upper middle class and attended only the best schools really relate? Of course they can feel your pain, but do they really know what it is like? When was the last time Hillary had to come home and clean her house after a long day at the office? Try asking the average working women who have children and no husband to help carry the load. Boy, that's really relating. We won't even get started on her relating to how the black women can compare their lives to hers.
Yes, she can relate to those groups that are most like her. But for the "blue collar" women, there is something missing. It's called walking in those shoes. Remember NAFTA working middle class women of the United States.

A positive article about Hillary at HuffPost? Very nice to see for a change. Hillary really seems to be connecting to the woman who feels disenfranchised from the system. That group will be vital in the general election should she be the nominee.
