The Ron Paul campaign is gearing up to escalate its battle to destroy the U.S. Constitution in order to save it and to otherwise bugger our imaginations with rampaging insanity by taking the fight to the skies! Pictured, at right, is the Paulites latest atrocity: an artist's concept of what would be the Ron Paul Blimp! The Dread Zeppelin! La dirigible unintelligible! It will float from town to town, and, if the description the Paul supporter behind this idea is accurate, confuse the minds of men!

Imagine.. the mainstream media is mesmerized as the image of the Ron Paul blimp is shown to tens of millions of Americans throughout the day (and throughout the month). Wolf Blizter [sic], stunned and as if in a trance, repeats the words "Amazing, Amazing".

You have to admit, this sounds AWESOME.

As GPS co-ordinates stream to the website a map shows the Ron Paul blimp's location in real time. The local Television stations broadcast its every move. The curious flock together and make a trip to see history in the making. Emails with pictures are sent, then forwarded, then forwarded again. Youtube videos go viral and reach tens of millions of views. Ron Paul becomes the first presidential candidate in history to have his very own blimp. The PR stunt generates millions upon millions of dollars worth in free publicity, and captures the imagination of America.

But why stop there? Why don't we raise some money to buy Ron Paul his very own kangaroo? He can climb in the pouch and hop from campaign stop to campaign stop! Wolf Blitzer will look on, dumbfounded, muttering, "Stunning...wondrous!"

The thing is, these Paulites are deadly serious about this. They claim to have raised over $98,000 toward the $350K they think will make this blimp a reality. And if the picture below is any indication, the next terrorist-themed movie they aim to fetishize may be Black Sunday.

Really. Isn't it time to consider whether we might all be better off if we simply gave in to Ron Paul's demands?

Watch the jealous hatred that ensues because the other mindless candidates or their followers have no imagination!

For the record, most of us who are Ron Paul supporters are scratching our heads over the Blair Street Blimp Project as well, and I, for one, thought your post was delightfully funny. Ideas like the blimp are the result of the Ron Paul campaign not trying to centrally control the supporters: they had nothing to do with the money bomb that raised $4.2 million in a day (other than having an operational web site to receive payments), and they have nothing to do with the blimp. When you let people act freely and independently, some of their ideas are good and some not so good. Liberty is worth it.

I do think it odd that he is accused of wanting to turn back the clock, given that this has been the most effective use ever of the Internet to support a campaign (and that his policies are more protective of Internet free speech than any other candidate), that his largest support comes from the high tech industry, and that he is the strongest candidate on college campuses.

All of us know he is better on Iraq, Iran, the Patriot Act, the Military Commissions Act, torture, and the War on Drugs, than the most likely Democratic nominees. Most of us dislike his position on immigration and many of us would prefer a Federal ban on abortion restrictions rather than leave it to the states, which is Paul's position, but he has certainly earned a higher measure of respect than he is getting from some of the commenters.

Anyway, nice to know that the search engine on HuffPost will now have a result when someone enters the natural political search term "blimp." This was a major omission on the site until now.

Paul has no chance in winning. Richardson is the only peace candidate that can win. Clinton is losing momentum to Richardson in Iowa and New Hampshire. The time to switch is now.

Well Huffingtonites that was a lopsided commentary if ever there was one.I suppose we all (citizens) ought to just bend over and take what both political parties give us to vote for TweedleDumb and Tweedledumber and sit back and write off what's left of this country. Mr Linkins has just done a diservice to everyone hoping and praying that something good will happen to the political process. The battlefield is here now ;not on election day. By then it will be all decided and much too late to do anything about meaningful change.
Of course if you like the direction of the Country (and the Dollar, Market, Society, Economy, and your Future) then by all means keep snickering and sitting on your hands. Pretty soon you won't even have an ass left to sit on. A People get the Government They Deserve. If you think for a second that our Leaders and Representatives in Washington give one rat's ass about you and your family you better think again. All the smoke and mirrors in the world won't keep the bitter truth from emerging...soon.

Jason... you are a sad case for a writer.. Are YOU the best Huffington can do?? You'll take the hits by writing a Ron Paul article.. but you must think your Art Buchwald or someone funny..

How about this... Passionate support among law enforcement for Ghouliani leads police to pick up tasers and head for the streets to TASER the lunatic Paul supporters.... Or overwhelming support amongest Fire Fighters and First responders for the Ghoul exist...only in HIS mind..

Or grass roots support for hillary grows amongest Non-english speaking Chinese dishwashers leading to largest fundraising day in history of world...

Or.. Iranian dissetents encourage Barrack & Hillary to NUKE Iran..... saying... "Its for the Country that we loves... own good.. it'll grow back"

I think somehow we have lost our sense of humor in all this negativity of the '08 campaigns.
It's absolute lunacy to take $350,000 of contributions for a blimp!!! Issues...what issues??!!?
I don't agree with much of anything Ron Paul says...but this story about the blimp has sturck me so funny, I can't comment on much other than that! Have at it people!!!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

The symbol for Hillary Clinton's campaign should be B-2 bomber. Much more modern and uses much more fossil fuels.

Paul will win in 2008 because of supporters like these that care so much about the state of our affairs.

What ludicrous nonsense! Ron Paul is the only candidate with a consistent record (over 20 years) of defending the core principles of the US Constitution. To state otherwise is to impugn your own integrity as a 'journalist'. You have no credibility as a journalist when you blatantly state falsehoods and present them as fact.

I thought The Huffington Post was an attempt at serious professional journalism. I suppose the serious journalists are watching football today and this novice 'writer' has published an article without the editor's review. Such things happen.

"The Ron Paul campaign is gearing up to escalate its battle to destroy the U.S. Constitution..."

Lies and damn lies. It is a sad day when The Huffington Post mimics the mainstream media it so decries and contributes to the degradation of journalistic principles with articles like this. Shame!

Step back. Take a breath. Look yourself in the heart. Are you going to vote for another sleazy liar because he or she is the best of the stinking lot? Or will you (for once) step out of the prison of your cynicism and vote your conscience, vote the rational choice, vote in the man who will obey the law, uphold the law and govern from principle.

Your other choice is to vote once again for the cult of personality - install another fascist dictator, a corrupt coward, a liar who will kill your children in another unlawful war. A good way to turn your once-golden democracy into the bleak prison of a North Korea. Is that the future you want for your loved ones? The choice is clear: vote Ron Paul and sleep well with your conscience tonight.

A blimp is indeed the appropriate image for Ron Paul - whose ideas generally are a throw-back to the 18th and 19th centuries. His correct stand on the phony-war-on-terror doesn't correct the deficiency in most of his other, totally unrealistic and unworkable, ideas.

In addition to the blimp, how about a Model-T, some spats, outhouses, vacuum tube radios, and candles, instead of light bulbs, as other symbols of Paul? Grover Cleveland would be proud of his man!
