Nevadans Not Gung-ho Over Early Caucus
Recapping my story that ran Sunday, likely voters in Nevada are not marking Jan. 19 on their calendars as the day they get to help choose a president. In the latest RGJ poll, we asked 600 likely voters how likely they were to attend their party's caucus. Nearly 40 percent said they may not or will not attend. Only 33 percent said they would definitely or likely participate. Democrats are more likely than Republicans, by a 40 percent to 31 percent margin, to attend. That's likely a reflection of the energy both the Democratic Party and its candidates have put into the state's early caucus. On the bright side, far more Nevada voters are paying attention to the presidential race now than in August. The poll's methodology and interest-gauging questions can be read here.
