Regan On Regan: The Small Get Bigger

Judith Regan

Harper's Bazaar is making sense. If you've got to take on the task of nailing down the elusive quarry that is Judith Regan, the only person up to the task is Judith Regan. The resulting article careens wildly. Vulnerability one moment, a keen lack of self-awareness the next. Grandiose here, retreating and humble there. The big dumb punchline that she projects at the outset — which finds her in a Chinatown karoake bar, singing "My Way" — you know...at long last conquering her fear of being the center of attention, is offset by the weird, disconcerting punchline she saves until the end: "I want my life to get smaller, not bigger."

Of course! And what better way to simplify your life than to file a massive lawsuit that places you at the center of presidential politics and Rupert Murdoch's media empire? (A line stands out, by the way: "'Did you murder someone?' a friend texted from Shanghai. 'Come to China. You're not safe in America.'" China? How afraid of Murdoch could she possibly be?)

Bazaar, by the way, is all about you getting this. Hence the photography, showing Regan in boxing regalia. "I am just a poor girl," it says, "Though my story's seldom told. I have squandered my resistance on a pocketful of mumbles, such are promises." Ultimately, though, that's a little too small. The Saint Sebastian pose, then. And Regan complains that "People lost all perspective?"

She was a Republican all along--and her show did diss men a great deal; she came off as a victim- but was a working mom symbol-- at the time her after hours life was only whispered about. Who would have ever guessed how tight she was with the FOX crowd.... these Republican woman do give off a powerful aura in public, but for some reason turn around and get victimized by sleazy, powerful,in control republicans. I'll take a Democrat anyday!

And further more, I like a woman with style! Put on the gloves, Baby. I'm ready for action. You don't fuck with me!
Is she a good girl, a bad girl, or is she the secret part in all of us that says, "You've crossed the line buddy, and you're disrespecting me. That's a no, no.

What in the world was Harpers Bazaar thinking?Judith Regan used to have a show on FOX, in
which spewed non-stop hate of men, especially
men who "cheated on their wives." She attacked
them non-stop, now we learn she was having an
affair with the slimeball of slimeballs, the
married Bernie Keric (sp) and using an apartment
overlooking the ruins of "9-11" which was
donated as a place for people working at the
site of the collapsed towers. Judith Regan is
a piece of crap, an adulteress, a liar, -
and a punch line!

I see alot of posts including the main harpooning Regan for filing her lawsuit. Did any of you folks ever stop to think that perhaps she is doing it because she feels it is the right thing to do? I do grow tired of the sympathy for the devil I see in society within our current discourse. It would seem that pervading attitude out there is that if you or your corporation has a lot of money well then that must be virtuous and perhaps a law suit is just a grab at the money and not a punitive correction to abhorent behavior.

If Judith Regan wants her life to get smaller, she should stay out of the limelight. Does anyone really care about what she wants? This country is going to hell and we're supposed to care about her? She can get lost as far as I'm concerned.

Has anyone here looked into her history? She's a litigious loudmouth. (This Harper's article proves my point...but if that isn't enough google her name and look at her divorce history!) In addition, I am fairly certain, (based on personal knowledge), that one would be hard pressed to find anyone at Regan Books or HarperCollins that would have a good word to say about her (lawsuit or not). Sure she took risks and no doubt she sold books, but was she more trouble than she was worth? According to Rupert and Jane she was. It will be interesting to see if in the process of making her life smaller she goes to Time or Newsweek with her story.

Washington-Williams, Essie Mae. Dear senator : a memoir by the daughter of
Strom Thurmond. 1st ed. New York : Regan Books, c2005.

I will always have affection for Judith Regan
for publishing Essie Mae Williams book about
being Strom Thurmonds black daughter.

Regan had guts. When she picked on Rudy Kazootie she stepped on one of Murdoch's friends.

Too bad she did it while working for MacMillan
Harper Collins..

If I owned Simon and Shuster or Penguin, I would hire her in a heartbeat.

From about 30 feet, she looks like Sandra Bullock's older, chunky, sorta homely sister. Photoshop is awesome!

Bazaar stole the Ali picture idea for its cover of Regan.
