New Poll About The War In Iraq

AP:

The public increasingly believes the U.S. is making military progress in Iraq but still wants President Bush to remove American troops from the country as quickly as possible, a poll showed Tuesday.

People are evenly split over how well the military effort in Iraq is going, with 48 percent saying it is going well and the same number saying it isn't, according to a survey by the nonpartisan Pew Research Center. In February, shortly after Bush announced he would send additional troops to the country, only 30 percent said things were going well.

Warning: the experience of the civil rights fight of the 60-70's shows that the views of the American people are as fickle and dangerous as quicksand. Within weeks of congressional vote for sending more troops to Vietnam, civil rights had become an orphaned issue.

I don't see how any amount of propaganda will convince people that the surge was not a failure.
I saw Reilly trying and it really strained his massive ability to alter reality by spewing pure bullshit.

He claimed the surge drove Al Qaeda out of Iraq, of course Al Qaeda was never in Iraq. It is like he said Saint Patrick drove the kangaroos out of Ireland.

The dems are playing a very dangerous game by not crippleing dumbya and darth with impeachment hearings.
those wiley repugs will turn public opinion around to the point where our 'walk in the park win' will become a squeaker as the 'people' watch the war 'turn around'. THEIR words-not mine.

Progress? What progress? They are listening to the administration put out wishful stories over and over and over and over. The idea behind the surge was to create a safer environment so that the politicians can get their act together. The military did that, and the politicians are still at zero. What progress?

The only real progress is diminishing Blackwater.

Everything else is fucked up.

There a pathetic realization that no matter what the American people want, say or do, these assholes are going to continue to do what ever they want anyway. To try a make Americans the scapegoats for a failed, protracted miserable excuse of a war is ridiculous. Everyone knows we are there for however long it takes for the gas companies to steal as much access to oil as possible. We pay high prices for this oil to keep their profits up and pay for their security with our military personnel. That's all there is to it.
That's Americans are responding too... pollsters.

More progress -

BAGHDAD — For the second day in a row, U.S. soldiers on Tuesday killed Iraqi civilians when they fired on a vehicle that they thought was a threat, the U.S. military said.

The U.S. military also reported that two soldiers were killed by a roadside bomb in Salah ad Din province. Two other soldiers were wounded. The military provided no further details on the incident and didn't release the names of the dead.

The Iraq war was based on lies. If anything, the only thing that could be called progress is if the Democrats showed some spine and impeached the criminals Bush and Cheney.
