A New York financier calls for a Muslim to be appointed to the next president's Cabinet and relates an interesting reply when he put that issue to Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney.

Mansoor Ijaz, who describes himself as an American-born Muslim whose family came from Pakistan, writes in an opinion piece in today's Christian Science Monitor that he attended a private fund-raiser this month for Romney in Las Vegas. Ijaz says he asked Romney whether he would consider a Muslim for a national security post in his Cabinet, since he says radical jihad is the biggest threat facing America.

I think we're getting ahead of ourselves here - I know quite a few Muslims - they're all pretty bright and have a good handle on reality. None of them expressed any desire to hang out in Romney's cabinet - especially if its anywhere close to all those skeletons in his closet.

If I were that Guy who just contributed at a Romney fundraiser - I'd STOP PAY on the check.

"Romney Says He Wouldn't Appoint a Muslim to His Cabinet"

That should put an end to those rumors that the GOP "War on Terror" is actually a war on Islam.

I would defend the right of any person to religious freedom, and to be judged on the quality of their character and not their sincerely held private religious beliefs.

I have repeatedly defended Romney's rights in this area on these very pages.

But a bigot is a bigot: Your own your own now Mitt.

mormons win the prize for outlandish mythology------A SALAMANDER???? Yea. Muslims are more deluded than that?

Don't worry. As usual, Mittens is on every side of this issue. He has a "principled position" to make everybody happy. Romney is just as satisfying as any other other big, old box of whiter-than-white detergent.

So one's percentage of the population determines a position in the cabinet.

hmm...

what percentage are Mormons?

So Jesus of Nazareth can show up in North America and bury a new bunch of commandments to be dug out by a loony who started the Mormon faith.

but an American born Pakistani can't even hypothetically qualify for a unlikely cabinet of Mr. Romney?

I guess religion really does rot the brain. Or it simply eases one's ability to be a liar and a hypocrite.

On his New Hampshire trip Dennis Kucinich called for free health care and free college education for all Americans.

Of course I rushed over to HuffPo to find the news and see what people were saying about it.

Of course the news is not here.

Why does a would-be candidate for the highest office in the land says ... that "radical jihad" is the biggest threat this country now faces (not true...) ... and that he or she equates "muslims" with "radical jihad?"

That's a depth of pure ignorance ... or a willingness to say whatever one's handlers say a particular audience wants to hear ... that is not appropriate for such an Office.
