Christina Aguilera: Pregnant, Naked And Proud

Christina Aguilera bares all for the January 2008 issue of Marie Claire, on newsstands nationally Dec. 11. She is reportedly due in January with her and husband Jordan Bratman's first child.

On her pregnancy being a surprise: "We were planning on starting to try after the tour. And so, I had gone off the Pill to prepare my body, because I didn't know how much time it would take. You've heard it takes some time -- except with Power Egg and Super Sperm here... I'm like, Oh, my God, can you believe it just happened?"

On being pregnant during her 'Back to Basics' tour: "I was paranoid. There are so many things that could go wrong -- somebody could slip, somebody could fall, I could fall. There was no way in hell I was going to jeopardize my baby for my show." So she wore a well-concealed heart monitor. She didn't want to broadcast the news. "I didn't want to make the audience uncomfortable, like, 'Pregnant lady onstage! Is she going to be OK?' But I had to announce it to my band and my dancers, because I wanted to make sure they had my back."

On her simple decision not to announce anything: "Because I hadn't said anything, people thought I was trying to keep it this big, bad secret, and that's not the case at all. I just wasn't commenting. I'm not being like, 'Hey, everybody, I'm pregnant!' I'm not that girl."

On the domestication of Xtina being complicated: "We're so labeled. If you're too sexual, you're slutty. If you're not sexual enough, you're a prude. I like to put it out there as a topic of conversation. Why does it bother you? What's your problem with it? Am I really hurting you? Let's get to the root of it. I have more than one side of me that likes to get out on a stage and sing. Sometimes I want to be aggressive, sometimes I want to feel empowered in my sexuality and my vulnerability. I want to put all that out there."

I doubt any of this has to do with the beauty of motherhood or confidence in the pregnant body. It seems to stem more from her being a self-absorbed flake.

Remember those dog collar images not too long ago? How about the super-prostitute look?

I don't know if it's cuase she's a parallel of Britney Spears, or is it the implants that she can't help but to show off, or is it the 3 lbs. of makeup....oh, and you gotta love the high heels... pregant women looooove to wear high heels.

How much airbrushing did they do here.... I gotta feeling her body looks like a stretch mark map.

My daughter really got into her after she made that beautiful song about loss, "Hurt".
I hope she doesn't see these covers. They look kinda...I don't know....chimp-ish (at least the totally naked one does).
I'm not a prude, and I'm not saying that the realities of the human reproductive cycle should be hidden. But I just don't find ANYTHING appealing about these pictures.

I find all these responses fascinating.I see how individuals perceive the photo differently and realize that ..no it's not the point..but..it's ..typical of life.

Some will be aroused and care only about that
Some will know this and be angry that a woman is allowing herself to be exposed to shallow male objectification of women
Some will think it is beautiful and natural,after all..were all born naked..
Some will believe it is empowering for HER
Some will believe it is empowering for HIM
Some will believe she is cheap

There is absolutely nothing extraordinary about reproduction. It's as common as grass. Everything in nature reproduces: including earthworms, grasshoppers, slugs, bacteria and dust mites. Why is this considered so spectacular? It takes no brains or talent or skill whatsoever to reproduce yourself. This is just more titillation for the prurient public to sell magazines and ad space. There is no end to appeals to bad taste.

WHAT the hell is up with these pregnant women always showing their bulging bellies on magazine covers? Is this the height of egocentrism or what? Enough, already! Demi Moore started this craze some years back and I am frankly sick of it! Pregnancy is a private event between mother and dad and their families -- please keep those bellies covered up!

I haven't seen anything like this since i went to a nude beach this past summer. Then again, i hadn't seen anything like that on a beach since a went to a nude beach the summer before.

I guess you can see this all the time on any nude beach. What's the big deal?
