Pat Sajak On Celebrity Endorsements: Who Cares?

First Posted: 3/28/08 Updated: 5/25/11

Pat Sajak

"Wheel of Fortune" host Pat Sajak has written against the importance of celebrity political endorsements for his personal website and HumanEvents.com, a conservative website. Called "Celebrity Endorsements: Does Anyone Really Care?" the article says in part:

This is America, and we celebrities have just as much right as anyone else to speak up about any issue. The problem is that more attention is paid to what we say because we're well known. But why should that matter? O.J. Simpson is one of the world's best-known celebrities, but I can't imagine anyone following his lead in a voting booth.

I suppose anything that gets people engaged in the political process is a good thing, but the idea that a gold record, a top-ten TV show or an Oscar translates into some sort of political wisdom doesn't make much sense to me. Trust me, one's view of the world isn't any clearer from the back seat of a limo.

Pat Sajak has personally endorsed Fred Thompson with a $2300 donation.

I believe I can identify that man standing with Vanna White.
The picture was taken at the Mississipi State Fair two years ago. The man in the photo is my ex-brother-in-law. He is a burn victim who has paid thousands of dollars to forensic scientists for his 'new' day-at-the-beach look.
Wow! Looks good, huh?
(He says Vanna smelled purty that day.)

Pat Sajak, as a "conservative," is always bashing Hollywood and complaining about how immoral and decadent his TV and film acquaintances are.
Yet he has no problem with making himself rich through endorsements...plus, he earns about $10 million a year from "Wheel of Fortune." So he shouldn't be biting the hand that feeds him.
...and yeah, lay off the botox, Pat. It makes you look too plastic.
You know....like those "fake" liberal celebrities that you always criticize!

That we care about celebrities is based on the workings of the reptilian brain. These are alpha males and females from whom we take important social, sexual and heirarchal cues from. If Pat were anything more than a hired gun, he'd probably know that.

Pat who?

Not a fan, but he is right.

What he does privately is his own business. He's not going around telling people he's giving the money away, is he? He's saying he has as much right to get involved, but that no-one else need follow his example.

Solve the puzzle or spin again, Pat.

Millions of morons will still vote for some asshole
because some other asshole with a TV show said so.

Talk about the epitome of hypocrisy. Pat says no one cares celebrities endorsements, yet thinks someone should care what he has to say. I just wish they all would shut up. Fake-kissing on the big screen or reading game show questions for a living doesn't require any intelligence whatsoever. It will be a cold day before I take my lead from a bunch of silicone Hollywood idiots.

He then gives Thompson a $2300 donation. The irony.

Who cares about Pat? Vanna looks good still, after all these years
