If Convicted, Astor Son Would Still Reap $4 Million A Year
Even if he's convicted of swindling millions of dollars from Brooke Astor while she was alive, Anthony Marshall still stands to pocket millions more from his mother's death - money that only his aging trophy bride may get to enjoy.
Marshall, 83, was indicted earlier this week on charges he took advantage of his philanthropist mother's "diminished mental capacity" in the years before her death this past August "in a scheme to defraud her and others out of millions of dollars."
Prosecutors charge Marshall and a once-suspended lawyer named Francis Morrissey conspired to get Astor to make changes to her will in 2004 that shifted tens of millions of dollars from charity to Marshall.
