Deep in the December issue of Vanity Fair is an interesting throw-away line about Tom Cruise and Steven Spielberg. Bryan Burrough wrote a lengthy article called:

Showdown at Fort Sumner
Two years after Paramount purchased DreamWorks, Hollywood is transfixed by one of the nastiest breakups ever. As Sumner Redstone and David Geffen went to war (over Steven Spielberg?), the author got it from both sides.

The article is online, and on page 3 of the online copy, at the end of a paragraph on Tom Cruise being "fired" by Redstone, is this:

Spielberg felt the actor's antics had hurt his own movie, 2005's War of the Worlds. Far worse, though, had been an episode when Spielberg told Cruise the name of a doctor who had prescribed medication to a relative and the doctor's office was subsequently picketed by Scientologists.

The Cruise dismissal, however, was nothing compared to the sudden firing of Freston as Viacom's C.E.O., two weeks later....

Vanity Fair has stringent fact checkers. To repeat "when Spielberg told Cruise the name of a doctor who had prescribed medication to a relative and the doctor's office was subsequently picketed by Scientologists."

The sentence begs the question, what kind of doctor and medication? Could it be psychiatric? Cruise and Scientology have a well-documented opposition to psychiatry, and now it seems Spielberg has a documented dislike of Cruise.

Spielberg has more talent in his left nostril than Cruise does in his entire body. Cruise has definitely flipped out, and going after Spielberg's doctor is the icing of the cake.
Talk about career suicide...

Ironically, I was watching A.I. last night. Wonderful, haunting, sad Spielberg film, one of his best.

Scientology is as preposterous as Christianity, Islam, Judaism, and all the other cults. They are all cults, none have any validity- save in the minds of their adherents. They all employ brainwashing to achieve their ends- a flock of mindless sheep with open pocketbooks.

Maybe Mr. Spielberg will begin to employ REAL actors now, like the stellar cast of Munich, istead of "names" like Cruise. And maybe Mr. Cruise will be so happy sitting atop the food chain at United Artists with his fag hag Paula Wagner that he'll do us all a favor and stay off the silver screen for a while after his upcoming WWII romp bows and flops.

Tom would only kiss Spielberg for the publicity.
Unlike others here I'd be glad to see a Tom Cruise film again but only if his character (all his characters are only Tom with zero acting required) only if he's is killed in the first scene.

I chose to spend my entertainment dollar based on my political beliefs, and I am very well informed as to whose movies or CD's I will not purchase. I have deleted Tom Cruise and Toby Keith, and have discovered the Dixie Chicks and Bruce Springsteen. I NEVER watch Fox News, but love Keith Olbermann. I also never purchase Domino's Pizza. That is my choice-and Tom Cruise is totally gone.

That photo of Tom Cruise so rudely grabbing Spieldberg's head and planting that nasty mafia kiss is upsetting to me.

I have a lot of respect for Spielberg and not so much for Tom Cruise. Frankly, that photo makes me want to grab Tom Cruise by the scruff and toss aside.

I'm so disappointed! No professional scientology trolls defending their scam anywhere in this post.

No clams to steam.

But as for Cruise & Spielberg, I dislike both of their work. War of the Worlds is one of the most offensive & awful films I have ever seen. Absolutely vile!

Cruise can't act.

Spielberg can direct, but the results are contrived & manipulative. His films leave me feeling dirty for having watched them..

Look at that nasty mafia kiss Cruise planted on Spielberg!

It reminds me of the nasty mafia kiss that Travolta planted on Kirk Douglas.

If Travolta or Cruise kissed my dad like that, he'd be in trouble.

That kind of mafia kiss is intended to show their power.

These Scientologists are asking for trouble by disrespecting old luminaries like Kirk Douglas and Steven Spielberg.
