Washington Post Recycles False Obama Muslim Rumors

Talking Points Memo:

Digby and BarbinMD have already dealt heavy blows to today's reprehensible Washington Post piece that recycles the rumors that Obama is a Muslim on the paper's front page.

But I wanted to add a couple more points about the story, because it really is a top contender for the title of Worst Hit Piece of Campaign 2008.

Read the whole story: Talking Points Memo

One more thing . . . it is comical to me watching how each morning a new "story" appears trying to tie Barack Obama to some new financial scandal . . . desperate times call for desperate measures I guess.

You can almost hear the papers rustling and smell the midnight oil burning as ever area of Barack's life is carefully analyzed for any signs of weakness. Seems like this "naive" and "inexperienced" Senator has the old Democratic political machine flumoxed . . . how can they maintain their influence, perks, and breaks if someone who doesn't owe them anything is elected?

I see more ugliness ahead - here's hoping Barack has an asbestos pantsuit in his closet too - he's sure gonna need it.

NEWSFLASH: Word on the street is that Obama's house gave out better Halloween candy than his neighbors . . . how was this upgraded candy purchased? Were campaign funds used? Inquiring minds wanna know . . . LOL!

This is only the beginning, ok? The white power elite will never tolerate a person of color as President. If you think otherwise, you're kidding yourself.

I prefer Italian silk ties but his looks nice enough....

Guess the author isn't too interested in a career as a legitimate journalist but he did get a few minutes of attention he can always look back on with pride. Pathetic.

You all are on it! We who are Progressives may not need the MSM, but that percentage of the Ignore-ant, who may be moved to vote by some form of education, are the population who could most benefit by Us rising to Activism! This MSM situation can be reversed if we take action on the postal rate issue and attempt to stop the FCC to save The Nation and other good publications. You folks are doing a great job in the education Dept. Thanks, Peace

Let's see, bin Laden is Muslim, so Saddam Hussein was behind 9-11, so we "had" to invade and occupy Iraq not oil but to save us from that mushroom cloud, so Barak Obama was in a Madrasa, so he is Muslim, so he was behind 9-11. Eureka! Case closed.

Now just who would benefit from this character assassination? The usual suspects. No, they cannot allow Barack a fair hearing without bringing in his communist ..no, wrong era...Muslim leanings and teaching. There we go. If you are different you aren't equal in this country. That just on paper, I guess.

That's why the Dubai port deal didn't go down. Once you create prejudice, then you can't put that genie back in the bottle.

Why do I feel like this is the big juicy *supposely* tactic that Hillary was going to eventually used?

I do not fear Washington Post at all...infact embrace that indeed american people know Obama's credentials...

But this has definately made me lose ever more intrest in Washington Post.

Barack has to announce this as soon as possible and end this racist rumor once and for all before he gets elected in the primaries...

Folks, face it, print media in the US is only good for two things ...

Starting a fire in your fireplace, and potty training a puppy.

You waste your time trying to discern any other value ... correction ... comics and horoscopes tend to be worth something.

Seperation of Church and State!

This is as rediculous as the British teacher in trouble in Sudan over naming a Bear after a Muslim religious leader.

Shame on the Washington Post for this. This is a disservice to the American public and betrayal of the responsibilities that go with the right of free press.

This is why the people of the United States who believe in the duty of the free press to serve the public need to start creating their own publications, even just online, because this bullshit will be over if no one buys these abusive newspapers and magazines.

I do hate the puff pieces, but I love that HuffPost exists.

Is this supposed to come as a surprise? There are virtually no reputable news organizations any longer. There is no investigative journalism, there are no investigative journalists. There is slander, rinse, repeat.

FOX sued to be able to lie. So, lying it is across the board at all alleged news agencies. And they wonder why print is rapidly becoming a thing of the past and why blogs are the now and the future.

If I want to read opinion, let it be by those who at least say it's their opinion. I don't need some clown who is supposedly reporting news to report his opinions. I can make my own, thank you very much.

The Washington Post was originally published by Eugene Meyer, the man who also owned General Aniline Chemical, a company that apparently did business with Nazi Chemical Manufacturer I.G. Farben. According to the Chicago Tribune Oct. 15th 1947, Farben also started a spy ring in the United States in 1928, close to the time Meyer became the Chairman of the Federal Reserve. What a coincidence. One of the Members of the Federal Reserve at that time was Paul Warburg, whose brother Max Warburg worked for I.G. Farben and was on the Board of the the Reichsbank. What a coincidence. Meyer apparently also helped fund the Bush families entrance into the Oil business. What a coincidence. Meyer later became the First President of the World Bank, whose second President was John McCloy ,who was earlier the legal council for I.G. Farben, photographed with Hitler at the 1936 Olympics, and later ended up on the Warren Commission. What a coincidence.
Considering it's questionable history, it's not suprising the Washington Post is slamming Obama.

I love that avid readers and followers of the Huffington Post are attacking WaPo, when all HuffPo does is publish misleading headlines and false pieces on a daily basis!

Hypocrisy. Is there a song named hypocrisy? If so, it should be the theme song to Huffington Post.

Obama is essentially bullied here, there is conventionally two way of reacting to bullies, you hide from them or you run from them. Sense bullies are predators running and hiding triggers their hunter instinct, they seem to feed of fear and act against you with more intensity.

Obama reacts to rumours the way all intellectuals react to rumours they are conditioned by the Carlyle maxim that “no lie can live forever” but in politics lies tend to live long enough.

What Obama need is not, to run or hide but to embrace these rumours in a why that never have being done before in a way that appeal to other to embrace them as well.

Obama needs to remember what a fictive protestant priest said during the Second World War.

First they came for the communist ........ I did nothing because I was not a communist and any protest would have incriminated me.

Then they came for the gays ........ I did nothing because I was not a gay and protesting could have incriminated me.

Then they came for the Jews ......... I did nothing because I was not a Jew and protesting could have incriminated me

Then they came for the Catholics .... I did nothing because I was not a catholic and protesting might have incriminated me.

Then one day they came for me, by which time there was none to protest on my behalf.

At time when people are hated, when prejudice is aloud to flourish against some, and they are accused of crimes they did not and could not have committed, our conscience mandates us to declare elegance with those who are left out for the wolf.
Against fear we must seek each other rather then fleeing apart.
For if I am my brother’s keeper, I cannot choose who my brother might be.
I am a Mormon a, Jew a gay , a Muslim, I am what my brother is.
And my brother is whoever is left out for the wolfs.
