AOL: Another Round of Firings Expected in December

Nothing confirmed, but one of our AOL moles was kind enough to explain what the he/she hears is up with those rumored December firings: They are reportedly just the second phase of the massive October blood-letting. "A nice holiday gift, but not new news."

(Well, not new news to high-level AOL insiders. Presumably news to some of the soon-to-be-whacked.)

Another source says D-Day is December 11th. A third reports that the sales force will get hit. An SAI reader adds the following, which suggests that some of the new firings, at least, ARE new news:

The word has come down from New York that more cuts are required, given the performance of the business. At this point, it should be clear to [AOL EVPs] Kevin Conroy and Ted Cahall that they are just managing a cost center in Dulles, and each business "challenge" AOL faces will result in a new Ron [Grant] memo on further reductions.

Why do so many companies fire people during Christmas season?

It seems like it happens all the time.

Can it be solely for the purpose of now having all that extra money that won't go to employees so the upper 1 percent can give themselves huge Christmas bonuses?

Just seems like the meanest thing to do at Christmas and in the middle of winter.

Hope they all rot in hell.

We knew Randy Falco would cut people.
Jon Miller cut a lot of people in 2002 when he became CEO.

"We thank Jon Miller for his four years of far-sighted leadership during a difficult time at AOL. We wish him well as he moves into the next phase of his career."... November 15th Dick Parsons.

But Jesus. "All Employees report to the cafeteria for the Christmas party."

Jack Wacker gets up form his desk.

"Where do you think you are going Whacker
Your not an employee."...Randy Falco.

And they thought it was just the housing sector that would get hit!! Hello! the whole economy is in trouble; we are in a recession!! probably the worst in history. I just hope that these job cuts are not the first phase to shipping the AOL jobs to Asia, where competent cheap Asians can replace the hardworking Americans who were justly compensated for building the company to the giant it turned out to be.

I feel sorry for all those folks that are going to loose their jobs; this means more foreclosures in the coming months because new jobs are not appeaing at the same rate the old ones are dissappearing.

God bless America & God bless us all because what's in stock for us is not good. The worst recession in history is not a good experience; not by a long shot!!
