Karl Rove Smiles

Karl Rove told Charlie Rose during a recent interview that Congress had pushed President Bush to go into Iraq prematurely. According to Rove, the White House had been opposed to holding the war vote close to the 2002 elections because "we thought it made it too political."

This morning, former White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card went on MSNBC's Morning Joe and laughed off Rove's claims. Read part of the transcript from Think Progress:

SCARBOROUGH: We have to start with something that we all are talking about a couple of days ago where Karl Rove went on Charlie Rose and he blamed the Democrats for pushing him and the president into war. Is that how it worked?

CARD: No, that's not the way it worked.

Card went on to explain that sometimes Rove's "mouth gets ahead of his brain":

SCARBOROUGH: Is that just Karl spinning beyond the White House? ...

CARD: Well, Karl is very smart. He's -- sometimes his brain gets ahead of his mouth. And sometimes his mouth gets ahead of his brain.

I see now why they kept Karl from the public. Rove was the Brain for Bush, but their symbiosis relationship was more akin to Pinky and the Brain.

Hmm... sounds like most of the pathetic trolls on HuffPo - except that they don't HAVE brains. Or backbones.

All they have is that group of clowns they call 'candidates'. And, thanks to them and Bu$h and Rove, they have a defunct, irrelevant GOP.

Oh, and they have the cowards at Faux Noise.

"U.S. goes to war to depose Saddam and sons....

Democrats said "war is lost, must surrender."

Bush introduces surge troops....

Democrats said "the surge has failed, the war is lost."

Surge succeeds and violence subsides, Al Qaeds is defeated and have died or left.

Democrats say "surrender because political progress hasn't been made."

When the reconciliation and oil-sharing legislation is completed by the Iraqi government....

.....what will be the next lame excuse you Democrats will use? Have you planned that out yet?"

OK Tonyadlove...
Just like anything we'll have to wait and see. Right? But remember this, the "surge" is essentially comprised of a change of stratedy and of tactics, one being an increase of the numbers and the other being the deployment of the troops in Joint Security Stations (JSS's). Emphasis on the word "Joint" meaning the forces are comprised of formally disaffected Sunni's otherwise known an "enemy combatants." What is fundamental about the "surge" is that is what was initially understood as what needed to be done from the beginning, before the war because it is standard for occupation. This administration ignored Shinseki and deployed too few troops, ignored Myers and disbanded (without anything close to an adequate {if any} disarmament the Iraqi army. Why? Wasn't the ensuing chaos predicable? Isn't it possible that the ensuing chaos wasn't a concern?
Consider the face of "shock and awe" I dare you.
Scroll down as far as like before you can no longer say it was worth it.

We all know now (some of knew then and that includes those in the know[intelligence that is ] in this nation and in nations of the region and in the west). The face of that is the hell WE have unleashed was not worth it for the human cost or the 2 Trillion that future Americans will be saddled with. Is it? Come on now.

Interesting how the supposed "news" media people can't seem to say the obvious.

It was a lie.

Maybe it's just me, but I'm far more suspicious about Andy Card telling the truth than I am about Karl Rove lying.

Card, McClellan....

Am I to believe this sudden 'surge' of accountability and truthfulness have swept the Republican party?

For five years I've been hearing there was a rush to war. Karl Rove has now told us why. The Dems pushed Bush into a war of their choice. A war he's now taking all the blame for because the Dems rushed him into Iraq while he wanted to stay in Afghanistan.

This was a war started by the Dems in order to bring down Bush. It's all making sense now.

It's such a simple concept, I don't know why everyone doesn't get it, you blow the shit out of an unarmed country, you write their constitution, you prop up the puppet government, and because they are stupid ragheads, they will think you are the new messiah, and kiss your toes.
I have to leave now, the Olympic Sweedish bikini team is here now, knocking at my door, insisting that I satisfy them, ugh, they are so demanding.

If the reason for the quagmire fiasco was to get rid of Saddam why didn't we just give him the billion dollars he asked for and he'd leave.

No money for the warmongers?

Must be.
