Hecka of a job FEMA! I understand Rice had an aid ask her several questions, like "are you thinking of running for President" at her press confrences. Seems the only questions they can answer in fantasyland is from their own mouths.

Now, now, let's look at the bright side; the cup half-full side. Is not FEMA, at the least, being consistent in its manner of conducting business. Value is the word that comes to mind here. Value. Is not consistency a value to be admired. Right or wrong, and certainly FEMA believes that what it has done is right, FEMA must maintain adherence to its values.

For certain, cetain I say, values must be qualitatively the same whether they are practiced at home or business-in this instance government business. It isn't a stretch to consider that some values practiced in business would also be the same values practiced at home, in the family. Family values. What terrible lies some of these people must live. Look at it this way, does not what they are doing in the public sector hint at the nature of their family values.

It's just a shame. Doubtless, most FEMA employees are probably ashamed of what has transacted here. Promotions are celebratory events. Hooray for us. And the rest of you?

It is more than faddish for the government today to model itself on the private sector.
Ask yourself, could this kind of thing, national publicity (scrutiny) attending, have happened in the private sector with a listed company? Where CEO's answer to stockholders and various boards? Think not.

So much for the business model and FEMA's values. A cup half-full.

When you think about , the word; WHY , comes to mind here. I for one , think that the only possible answer is that , to feel superior , Bush likes to surround himself with people that are 'dumber' than he is (although I can't see that as even being possible).

Fake news conferences. Planted questions by friendly reporters. Lies, secrecy, privilege, and as a result, those guilty are promoted, while those who tried to save us from 9/11 (FBI field agents who sent memos to superiors about impending attacks) were demoted, fired or quit in disgust and frustration.
What's new about this administration? The security at airports is still a joke. FEMA is a joke. Homeland Security is a joke. It's nothing more than schemes, financed for private no-bid contractors who are incompetent, greedy and ripping off tax-payer dollars into private coffers.
While casinos and the French Quarter of New Orleans are up and back in busines, thousands of homeless, displaced hurricane victims are still languishing in temporary housing or un-healthy trailers. Just recently, agents were able to slip guns and explosives through airport security. Our phone lines and personal mail are still being intercepted and kept in government facilities. Now, firefighters and paramedics are being trained to spy on and report activities of their citizens...even those who oppose government policies or disagree with the government are to be considered suspect.
Now I know what it must have felt like to live in the DDR with the Stazi, or in Iran under the Savak. I don't trust anyone anymore. I'll think twice before calling 911 on the phone, should I need assistance.
We're no longer the "home of the free and land of the brave." We're a dictatorship and tyrranical fascist regime.
