Marc Ambinder:

At 7:45 this morning, Sen. Barack Obama will set vice presidential speculation on fire with a brief stop to say hello to New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, himself an occasional presidential flirt. The meeting appeared on Bloomberg's schedule, which was distributed to reporters last night.

An Obama aide said the meeting was scheduled because of "mutual interest" and did not know whether the two had met before.

While still carrying the audacity of hope for Senator Obama, I am getting a little worried about his tilt to the right. His ambiguous position on troop withdrawal from Iraq, his currying favor of the Rev. Donnie McClurkin, his characterization of needed social security reforms as a crisis, and the gaps in his proposed health care system suggest a rightward differentiation from Mrs. Clinton and Mr. Edwards. It does seem appropriate that intentions for a vice presidential running mate would be valid to assist voters in making decisions. Certainly, we know that a vice president can make a difference, especially with an inexperienced president. Senator Obama is no "Govenor Bush", but never-the-less, a choice of a Republican or Independent running mate, would be an important part of the puzzle that is Barack.

That would be the KKK Collective Coronary ticket.

Jonathan Alter first speculated about it in early Spring. Intriguing.

Obama-Bloomberg might not be a bad ticket to run against Giuliani-Huckabee.

Bloomberg, who's regarded as a better presidential candidate by New Yorkers than Rudy, is a huge asset to this country, and would be great as VP.

Bloomberg is just pushing HRClinton's buttons for her not endorsing him in the last election. Bloomberg isn't anyone's VeeP. He doesn't have to be. He can buy his own nomination. Bloomberg is really not a Republican. He ran as one because the Democratic field was too crowded. He left the GOP and became an Independent. But his endorsement if he doesn't run could help swing votes.

Sometimes a breakfast is just a breakfast.

If their mutual interest is perpetual war and illegal searches (Bloomberg's positions), Obama can save a dime and drop out now.

.
This is the wrong interpertation.
.
It would Obama as VP to Bloomberg running as independent.
.
Obama knows he cannot be the Hillary machine to the nomination. He can beat it in the general election backing up Bloomberg who polls huge.
.
Also, Hillary might be a bad choice because:
It is possible that Senator Clinton is the best candidate. However, even though any may like the policies that Senator Clinton proposes, they should also consider her record, just as Senator Clinton insists.
.
The last Clinton Administration, when faced with the fact that protection rackets where torturing people with poison and radiation, chose to avoid its responsibilities to incarcerate the criminals and to protect the citizenry.
.
Instead, they made a deal with the criminal gang stalker protection rackets to leave them alone and to consequently abandon the citizenry.
.
Do we want a President who sells out the citizenry for votes?
.
Do we want a President who sends a "crime does pay" message to society?
.
Would you vote for a President who signed nonaggression deals with the KKK or the Nazi party? Gangs that torture with poison and radiation are much like the KKK and Nazi Party.
.
We do not need a sellout President. We need a principled leader President.
.
If you are one of the few who do not know what the above refers to, do a web search for “gang stalking” to see the tip of the dirtberg. Please do it before you decide to reply to my post. Here let me make it easy for you: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=%22gang+stalking%22.

If Bloomberg or anyone else who smells of that kind is on the ticket that is a ticket that I cannot support.
What is the difference between Blomberg and Lieberman?

Only a fool like Huff&Puff would consider a VP spot under the o-bomb-a-nation.

Bloomberg can't get his presidential ambitions off the ground without leaching like a parasite off of someone else's rising star

Ha! It's funny to listen to those who think Bloomberg would even consider being second banana. And it's funny to listen to those who think Bloomberg "is barely a republican."

People...these "former republicans" are leaving their party because of what the party has represented over the past 7 years. Do you think America is favorable to the crap turned out by the Grand Old Party? Who would want to be associated with that...well, besides Joe LIEberman!

There isn't a Republican running for the presidency that could run against Obama or any other Democratic presidential candidate that could win the presidency. Republicans are still clinging to their delusions of popularity/electability even while their candidates are a bunch of farcical nutjobs and pathetic wannabes with no chance in hell of unifying their own party behind them. The 2008 elections will be historic Democratic landslide victories no matter what wishful thinking Republicans want to beleive.
