Murder is always good copy. Particularly when it involves attractive young women. So it's no surprise that the media seem fixated on two recent, tragic cases: the death of the British student, Meredith Kercher in Perugia, and the killing of the Frenchman, Olivier Mugnier, 24, allegedly by a British woman, Jessica Davies. But maybe there is more than youth and looks that link these cases. Maybe there is a sexual echo, too.

Maybe the "rape" charge had at least something to do with the cruel way in which this guy walked out on her.

I doubt the author's experience was purely the result of rough consentual sex. No matter how straight or kinky the sex you are having (with someone other than yourself) there is always another human being involved. Another heart, another mind, another sometimes fragile ego. It's not just another body, and if you treat your partner that way, chances are it will eventually go very badly. Human beings are extremely complex, and sex can touch a lot of different nerves. The 17-year old who can handle it comfortably is pretty rare.

I seem to remember the exact same arguments made by Tipper Gore and heavy metal music, after a few people acted out some of Ozzy's lyrics in some strange way.

There are ALWAYS going to be a small number of people who can't distinguish the difference between fantasy and reality. Those same people also lack control to channel the "fight & fuck" reptilian brain into harmless rather than harmful pursuits.

No news there - so let's not spoil the party for the rest of us...otay?
