Huckabee

Huckabee dodged the question that time. But in 1997, Huckabee claimed that Jesus would have agreed with him on supporting the death penalty. Shortly before a triple execution in Arkansas in Jan. 1997, a caller called into Huckabee's show on Arkansas Educational Television Network and asking how he squared his Christian teachings with his support for the death penalty. As the Arkansas Times reported on Jan. 22, 1997:

"Interestingly enough," Huckabee allowed, "if there was ever an occasion for someone to have argued against the death penalty, I think Jesus could have done so on the cross and said, 'This is an unjust punishment and I deserve clemency'."

I don't care what Bull Sh** Huchabee says--there is no LOVE or compassion in performing the death penalty.

The state really does not have the right to do this.

There are people is this country protesting against this happening to animals!!!

And then there are the 10 commandments with the THOU shalt not kill.

So is Huckabee changing theology by saying that Jesus OVERRODE the the 4th commandment?

Jesus said "Father forgive them because they know not what they do".

Huckabee is no theologian. If he argues that Jesus supports the death penalty simply because Jesus didn't oppose being crucified, then he must logically agree that Jesus supported:

1. Being stripped naked and paraded around town for the mob.
2. Being spit on and beaten by the mob.
3. Having a crown of thorns fixed to your head, piercing your head.
4. Being whipped until your flesh is like ground meat.
5. Being forced to carry the cross you will be crucified on across town to your execution.
6. Being nailed to a cross by your arms and legs and hung on the cross by the nails for however long it takes you to lose strength to hold yourself up and you die from not being able to breath.
7. Being stabbed in your guts with a spear when you are taking too long to die.

Huckabee is full of shit. He doesn't even know his own religion that he claims to be a leader of.

Ol' Huckelberry is purty slick. If he takes down Mittwit in Iowa and Trudy in S.C. The Republicons could go to convention without a nominee.

I thought your constitution separates religion and politics. How come candidates use religious bullshit it their campaign and get away with it ?

If Jesus was not crucified then the devil would win.

It is like McCain's position on the war. It is more important to win than to avoid being crucified.

This statement from Huckabee has probably brought in more republican voters to his camp. He is sure to get the nomination now. According to Huckabee's interpretation, the definitive voice of the Christians not arguing against the death penalty as he was being crucified must mean he was for the death penalty, right?

It is frightening to think that there are individuals that have such twisted, obscene logic. That means that any and all actions could be justified and exonerated because they will manipulate the Christian teachings to fit the deed. Amazing.

Same Theocracy, in a more likable humerous packaging. That only makes Chuckles Huckabee MORE dangerous, he's a skilled Baptist preacher, and he knows how to sell his product.

He will speak with Jesus in order to come up with a final, winning position on waterboarding which can be lethal.

I was in the middle of a telephone conversation with Jesus. Well, were really having a good talk when he told me to hold; a call was coming in. Wow, I thought. Someone has his number. He would never give me his number; from what I understand most others don't get it either. You know, "Don't call me, I'll call you". Said I needed faith that my thoughts would be heard in lieu of a phone conversation. But he did call me every once in a while.

The call waiting was a call from a guy named Huckabee. Jesus told me later that he's had lots of chats with him. The Huck briefed him on an upcoming meeting on torture, Huck wanted advice, and Jesus said, "Hey, Huck man, I know torture!" Let me know how the meeting turns out and I'll craft something for you. Sounds like you want something that will make most voters who might think of voting for you happy. I know how they think. I'll bless you with just the right position to take on the alleged torture you described. Have faith. And oh, if I don't get right back to you after you brief me, go to the book. You'll find something in there to support whatever position you take.

ASIDE: I saw the man once. Yep, a vision. He was wearing a white robe. I asked him why he didn't have a red robe because lots of good things on earth are represented by red. We have politicians wearing red ties, red states, that kind of thing. He said he like to wear a red robe but the fookin devil decided to wear one and now he won't. And blue won't do at all.

I woke up and counted my change. Must have made a dozen stops that night. Confusing. A dream? A vision? Depends on who I might be talking to. Maybe I'll go into politics.

Clearly, Huckabee is a goddamned hypocrite using religion for his own political devices.

Beware.

"The Huckster's" explanation that taking the life of a fetus is not the same as taking the life of one who was found guilty under our legal system, while interesting, does not hold up to the morality of true Christianity as I understand it.

Nice try Huckster. If your pro-life though, apply it consistently.

Personally, I fear any government who takes a life.

Nice to know that Republicans support crucifying Jesus.
