Washington Post:

Former White House aide Karl Rove said yesterday it was Congress, not President Bush, who wanted to rush a vote on the looming war in Iraq in the fall of 2002, a version of events disputed by leading congressional Democrats and even some former Rove colleagues.

Rove said that the administration did not want lawmakers to vote on a resolution authorizing the use of force against Iraq that soon because it would "make things move too fast," before Bush could line up international allies, and politicize the issue ahead of midterm elections. But Democrats and some Republicans involved with the issue at the time said yesterday that Bush wanted a quick vote.

Karl Rove always said that if you keep repeating something, and saying it is so, people will eventually believe it is so.

This is all antics with semantics.

The then-Republican controlled Congress may indeed have rushed a VOTE on the war.

It was Bush, Cheney, Rove, and the Neo-cons who rushed us INTO war, using cherry picked information, and flat-ass lies.

They knew, from debriefing "Curveball," a full 3 weeks before the invasion the "mobile weapons lab" claim he'd been making was a hoax.

They knew the ANODIZED aluminum tubes were unsuitable for use in a centrifuge.

They knew the "Nigerian Yellowcake" documents were fakes, Joe Wilson show'ed 'em that.

This administration, including Karl Rove, WANTED to go to war against Saddam Hussein ever since 9-11, DESPITE there being absolutely no, zero linkage between Iraq and OBL's Al-Quaida.

So yes, you fat fuck Rove, the VOTE may have been rushed, but it was you and your fellow war criminals who led us into this quagmire, and I hope every one of you are confronted in hell by a million dead Iraqi civilians you killed.

Bush didnt want them to vote on it?? Is that why he was on TV at least once a week saying how important a vote on this , and how it had to be a yes vote ???
I think Rove has lost it , if he hadnt already.

I wonder if he is one of those who believe that if you say something long enough, it eventually come true?? I wouldnt doubt it. Then again, with the type of mental state most republicans are in, if Rove, Bush, Cheney, Rush, Beck, Coulter or Faux non-news says it, they faithfully take it as their own opinion without ever questioning the sanity of it.

Rove has no shame. I guess he told Card to shut up while he was spinning a new myth. Is Rove the reincarnation of Goebbels or what?

"If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, THE TRUTH IS THE GREATEST ENEMY OF THE STATE." -- Joseph Goebbels, German Minister of Propaganda, 1933-1945

ROVE - Strict adherent to the Goebbels' playbook.

Actually, Nixon was subjected to impeachment hearings on obstruction of justice charges but resigned and was pardoned by Gerald Ford. I'd define that as an attempt to impeach, but that's not the point of my post.

On July 5, 2007, Congressman John Olver (D-MA) during a town hall style meeting, stated that he could not support impeachemnt (HR333 sponsored by Dennis Kucinich D-OH), saying if Congress voted to forward impeachment proceedings to the Senate, that "The President would declare a national emergency, institute martial law, and suspend the 2008 elections."

What do you suppose Congressman Olver knows that the media isn't telling us? If Olver truly believes this, I suspect it is because the administration has privately warned members of Congress, presumably including Nancy Pelosi, of their intentions should Congress advance impeachment proceedings.

The Dems are playing out the fourth quarter of Bush's term and will run against Bush more than against the '08 GOP nominee, whoever that is. Time will tell if that strategy will succeed, but bombing Iraq and suspending the elections is about the worst case scenario I can envision.

i believe kucinich first introduced impeachment in april, and i think presidential directive 51 was in august. could be off, but with the timing and all. idk.

the truth is a very funny thing.

no matter how many times you repeat a lie and claim it's the truth, it never will be.

whether or not you believe the truth, it won't change the fact that it's still the truth.

whether or not it fits your agenda, it's still the truth.

the truth is that rove's a liar.

.

Karl Rove's ivory tower of lies is built on quicksand. He knows he faces a huge reckoning. He has nowhere to go but down. It is not a question of if, but when.

I suggest we call and write to Newsweek and tell them what we think of their employment of such a big fat liar.

When in God's time and name are the Democrats going to muzzle this criminal?

Charlie Rose and any other media wonk are just as bad as this bum by letting him have a free public forum.

This jerk should have to pay for his publicity, but like all his conservative ilk, prefer the public teat.

The Republican Congress made me do it?

Karl Rove's intellectual dishonesty was fully formed during his early years, working with the Young Republicans and CREEP, the Committee to RE-Elect the President (Nixon) in the early seventies. He is called turd blossum because he makes things grow from lies, (or bullshit, to use the vernacular)

His gift is in sounding reasonable while distorting facts and out-right lying. Charlie Rose's interview offered a rare widow into the Rovian method, not by what he said, but rather by what he tried very hard NOT TO SAY.

When he was trying to absolve himself of the guilt of Plamegate, by passing his portion to Richard Armitage. He said "... of course, he [Armitage] didn't receive the press attention or... or, the ... " and I think the word he was about to use was "opprobrium." but then he thought about it and realized how it would play with the GOP base, and also the amateur psychologists.

Karl's father abandoned him and his mother when the mother found out that his father was having a sexual affair with a man.

Here's a link to some insightful synonyms for "opprobrium" (see if you can imagine a young Karl Rove finding solace in The Young Republicans after being abandoned by his father in this way.)

http://thesaurus.reference.com/browse/opprobrium

The man is a ghost. Like the characters in Ibsen's "Ghosts" he hides what is obvious, because "the sins of the father" have been "revisited upon the son."

What's sad isn't that the Karl Rove's of this world can manipulate us, it's that none of us are willing to recognize it or call them out when they do. Karl is a bald faced liar. Newsweek is a collaborator. They hired Kos, to ligitimize Rove as counterbalance.

Watch what happens at the FCC. It may give Karl all the megaphone he needs to keep the fascists in power when they hand "down" their ruling on media monopoly.

Hillary supports Mr. Rove's war. She must think he is right.
