Forecasters predicted freezing rain and snow flurries in Iowa on Sunday, a day after snow and ice plastered the Midwest, disrupting airport and highway traffic and leaving at least three people dead.

Hundreds of flights were canceled at airports in Des Moines, Chicago and Milwaukee on Saturday, with officials closing Des Moines International Airport for several hours after a United Airlines plane slid off a taxiway as it headed to a runway for a flight to Chicago's O'Hare. None of the 44 passengers was injured and the airport reopened by mid-afternoon.

"...Causing At Least 8 Traffic Deaths In Midwest"

This always amuses me when we blame the weather and/or related road conditions for accidents.

No...it's the BAD DRIVERS who are driving too fast for the conditions who are to blame...every time!

The fog, or snow, or wind, or rain or whatever, doesn't "cause" the accidents. The drivers do!

Recently here in Fresno, CA we had a 100 car pile-up or something. Of course, the "fog" was blamed for it. No mention of all the drivers who were, as usual, driving faster than they could safely stop before the pile-up in front of them appeared in their limited view.

I'm so sick of this. It's just another example of our society wanting to blame something else for our own faults.

It's not the weather that's to blame folks, it's the bad drivers!

If you had the sense god gave an ant, you'd understand things differently.

Usually by this time, the Great Lakes are starting to ice over. The more they ice, the less water vapor is available for lake-effect snow, especially in the midwest and the rust belt.

But in recent years, the lakes stay warmer, driving more and more humidity into the atmosphere, where the normal arctic winds cause snow.

So believe it or not, global warming = more snow.

The biggest problem with most Americans, is they can't put two and two together. That's why we elect idiots, turn televangelists into pop stars, and our kids have the worst science and math comprehension of all major industrial nations.

We have some of the most intelligent and gifted people on earth in America, but we also have most of the stupidest people in the first-world.

Now, the real topic, cancelled flights, which the troll SeesNekkid completely missed...

I would encourage airlines to cancel flights when weather seriously impacts safety. Believe me it is far better to be bored to tears with Retro TV in a miserable hotel room than being burned alive in a plane crash when the damned ice on the wings prevents lift.

Now, you choose... What would you like.

And besides, with wifi connections in the room, giving you chat, voice and document delivery, why do you want to burn alive when you could be using your iPhone in your jammies?

Ugh.

I bet the people of the mid-west, especially those traveling todag could use a little taste of global warming.

Maybe they could use the bit that didn't produce the predicted number of hurricanes in the past two abnormally quiet hurricane seasons.
