Before the endorsement vote, Perry County Commissioner Albert Turner praised Obama's qualifications, but urged the group to support Clinton.

"The question you have to put forth to yourself is that whether or not in this racist country a black man named Obama -- when we are shooting at Osama -- can win the presidency of the United States?" Turner said.

Turner said Clinton is the Democrat most likely to win in November "because of her husband and because of some other things, mainly because she's white."

Black people can be persuaded to vote for Obama, but he has to first prove that he can win. Black voters are pretty astute politically. We've done the Jesse Jackson thing and don't want to support another candidate who can't win white votes. If Obama takes Iowa, you'll see more blacks jump to his side.

Being a Birmingham resident, I agree with Albert Turner. It has nothing to do with Barack's skin color. He's inexperienced in the ways of the Republican Slime Machine. They will eat him up. The attacks against him will make the swift-boaters seem like True Christians. Hillary has survived all their dirty tricks. If you don't believe that, please read "Blinded By The Right" by David Brock. Barack won't know what hit him. He's young and needs a little more experience in DC than a couple of years in the Senate. His time will come.

When he win Iowa watch out. Things will change like a hurricane. Hillary better bring her lunch because she will need it. Her petty attack are going to backfire. School letters, School letter, Grade School letter from K-6. Using these letter to attack someone running for president of the United States. Hey, Hillary lover you know this is petty. She need to fire some folks for this one. It is just tooooooooo silly!!!!!

I don't agree with Albert Turner. Most of the people who hate black people also hate women just as much. And Hillary has the unique ability to create weird and deeply passionate opposition on the right. I think Hillary is the least electable of the three leading Democrats.

Guess what Robert Reich (Labor Secretary under Bill Clinton) wrote on his blog(http://robertreich.blogspot.com/2007/12/why-is-hrc-stooping-so-low.html)? He defends Obama against Hillary's attacks. Here is a sample:

"I"m becoming increasingly concerned about the stridency and inaccuracy of charges in Iowa -- especially coming from my old friend (Hillary Clinton). While I"m as hard-boiled as they come about what"s said in campaigns, I just don"t think Dems should stoop to this. First, HRC attacked (Obama's) plan for keep Social Security solvent. Social Security doesn"t need a whole lot to keep it going " it"s in far better shape than Medicare " but everyone who"s looked at it agrees it will need bolstering (I was a trustee of the Social Security Trust Fund ten years ago, and I can vouch for this). Obama wants to do it by lifting the cap on the percent of income subject to Social Security payroll taxes, which strikes me as sensible. That cap is now close to $98,000 (it"s indexed), and the result is highly regressive. (Bill Gates satisfies his yearly Social Security obligations a few minutes past midnight on January 1 every year.) The cap doesn"t have to be lifted all that much to keep Social Security solvent " maybe to $115,00. That"s a progressive solution to the problem. HRC wants to refer Social Security to a commission. That's avoiding the issue, and it's irresponsible: A commission will likely call either for raising the retirement age (that"s what Greenspan"s Social Security commission came up with in the 1980s) or increasing the payroll tax on all Americans. So when HRC charges that Obama"s plan would "raise taxes" and her plan wouldn"t, she"s simply not telling the truth.

"I"m equally concerned about her attack on his health care plan. She says his would insure fewer people than hers. I"ve compared the two plans in detail. Both of them are big advances over what we have now. But in my view Obama"s would insure more people, not fewer, than HRC"s."

Whoa?!!!

If you read the article it clearly says the opposite:
"At the endorsement meeting, Sanders' wife, Selma attorney Faya Rose Toure, urged the group to endorse Clinton. Their daughter, Malika, favored Obama. After the endorsement vote, Toure said she would support the group's endorsement, which she attributed to enthusiasm over the prospect of electing the nation's first black president.

"Never in history has an African-American come so close to the presidency, and people in the New South could not ignore it. The reality is race did play an issue, and that's all right," she said."

Huffington Post...WHAT ARE YOU DOING?

Let us have the TRUTH!

What is Huffingtonpost trying to imply by matching the smiling photo with the headline? That Hillary is gloating over her whiteness? I swear, the propaganda is almost as discouraging from the left as it is from the right.

PS: Bill Clinton did oppose the war from the outset and said so.

Well, everyone was bohooing Michelle Obama when she said basically the same thing. That some black have put self inflicted limits on the possiblity of having a black president. There is no coinicidence that in a SC polls, 60% of the voters are undecided. and Clinton leads by 2 points. Blacks are waiting and taking their cues from early primary states that have mostly white voters. It's sad but true. But in reality, I really can't see blacks in emasse going into the polling booth and pulling down a lever for another canididate. When push comes to shove I think they will overwhelmingly support Obama.

I don't know anything about Albert Turner. But he does sound backward and self-limiting for his own race. Worst, he insults those visionaries, black and white, before him, who had the vision for a more just and better America. If everybody all believe and sound like Albert Turner, America should still be a nation with slavery. Fortunately, we had those brave and daring visionaries who made America a better place than before.

As a result, I have to say to Albert Turner, "Sir, shame on you."

Another misleading headline that reads pro-Clinton, but has nothing to do with the contents of the article, which says the black vote is split.

So the message is that the country is racist and we should just roll over and accept it? That's quite a switch from "I have a dream".

Gives at least some credence to Michelle Obama's ideas regarding this issue of people of African descent shying away from Barack Obama. Of course, it would be better if we stopped compartmentalizing voting blocs by race, sex, class, or any other one dimensional element, but I guess we're still locked into a Top 40 mentality regarding almost everything.

And so it begins. He will split the party and the repubs will keep the WH. He is a young man and can have more runs at the WH. Why he would risk splitting the party is beyond me. If he were to win the primary, southern white males will vote Repub for sure and the Repub base will be mobilized. This is the reason the Repubs are talking him up. THEY WOULD LOVE IT IF HE WERE THE CANDIDATE..........and would beat him. Everyone voted for Bush to prove how moral and principled they were and those same voters would vote Obama to prove they are not racist. The problem is, the majority of Dems wouldnt vote at all and we will get beat! Hello? Republicans love him-that in itself should send up the red flags...
