Jennifer Love Hewitt Defends Bikini Pictures: "A Size 2 Is Not Fat!"

Jennifer Love Hewitt, newly engaged, has taken to her blog over the criticism of her body during the widespread distribution of photos of her in a bikini.

This is the last time I will address this subject.

I've sat by in silence for a long time now about the way women's bodies are constantly scrutinized. To set the record straight, I'm not upset for me, but for all of the girls out there that are struggling with their body image.

A size 2 is not fat! Nor will it ever be. And being a size 0 doesn't make you beautiful.

What I should be doing is celebrating some of the best days of my life and my engagement to the man of my dreams, instead of having to deal with photographers taking invasive pictures from bad angles. I know what I look like, and so do my friends and family. And like all women out there should, I love my body.

To all girls with butts, boobs, hips and a waist, put on a bikini -- put it on and stay strong.

I have seen the bodies in the trash mags at the check out and all the flaws a camera can find right out where the world can see andwe buy these thinking hey I don't look that bad instead of looking inside ourselves and seeing that whatever the size or the flaws we are loveable and we have value. Too often the bad camera angles bring about thoughts of self destruction because we are portrayed as just a body and worthless if not perfect. The society we live in has sold us the bill of goods that tells us we are not worthy of love and attention nor do we have any value all based on the evaluation of the media and strangers who we never will meet. The models who diet and use drugs to sell that image while abusing their bodies to the point of death is what we allow so that our little girls will be just like them. Isn't it time to change that image so our little girls don't have that image to die for?

We should all want to look HEALTHY. That goes for looking your actual age, too. Trying to look like Barbie is not healthy. And emotionally healthy men are not looking for a Barbie.
