New York Observer:

This week's issue of Newsweek contains a story by DC investigative reporter Michael Isikoff on Rudy Giuliani's ties to terror-financing outfits in the Middle East. The piece treads much of the same ground as a Village Voice story by Wayne Barrett published last week. Today, in a blog post that drew attention to the two pieces under the heading "Giving Credit Where It's Due," The Voice appeared to argue that its reporting should have been credited by Newsweek.

Media Mob asked Mr. Isikoff about the decision not to credit The Voice. Here's his emailed response:

Now that the Bush administration is sinking all the rats are jumping overboard.
The administration's propaganda centers (CNN,Time,Newsweek) are no exception. The article just proves what the public knows, that these pseudo-journalist are part of the system. Why would newsweek hold back on a report about fellow Giuliani and now cry foul when someone else published it before them?
A greek proverb: Lie once, Lie twice but the third time you will get caught.

C'mon Mike snap out of it - you and Wayne are first rate journalists and taking pot shots at Wayne only diminishes your standing. Isn't the real goal of investigative journalism FINDING THE TRUTH? Stop with the prima donna bull$hit!!!!!!

Isikoff is nothing more than an egotistical prima donna. He serves the status quo and his priviledged position. He and Newsweak are both worthless.

Well on a positive note, the worse things get, the more people feel it, realize it and come to understand it, then the more people try to make things right again.

Problems not only engender their own solutions, but they motivate us and bring us to define and appreciate the process of living.

Long ago, the NYTimes published the Pentagon Papers, which they had sat on for months, only because the Village Voice was about to print them. MSM is very good at keeping secrets from the American people...who very obvioously, can't handle the truth.

Isikoff and Bernstein have both been cheerleaders for the neocons. Now, that the tide is beginning to turn, Isikoff is trying to act like a real journalist.

When Barrett was on "Countdown" last week Olberman pointed out that Isikoff had the bare bones of the story first, to which Barrett nodded in agreement

Just Hurry up and write your story, I am about to cancel the subscription of Newsweek, unless, of course they fire Rove, whose smart decision was that anyways ?

Makes a lot of sense that Rudy has business ties to terrorist organizations... considering that his main tool for gaining political power is stoking the public's fear of terrorism.

No terrorism, no president Rudy.

Ah, yes. Mr. Isikoff.
Is he the "journalist" who spent months working with Linda Tripp and LuciAnn Goldberg, assisting them in their "tell-me-everything-girlfriend" routine they played on Monica Lewinski?
Back in the days when we had a president who didn't lie us into an evil war, killing thousands of our men and women, and hundreds of thousands of Iraqis, or destroy our economy, or curtail our constitutional rights, is Mr. Isikoff the "journalist" who thought that exposing a blow job was a big story, worthy of months of his time and energy?

I wrote the Harry Potter books before Rowling. I just didn't bother to publish them.
