Sherri Shepherd

For whatever reason, the ladies on "The View" were discussing ancient Greek philosopher Epicurus this morning. Naturally, talk soon migrated to the topic of religion, and Sherri "I don't know if the world is flat" Shepherd came out to play. More specifically, to spew ignorance and a complete lack of understanding of basic world history! Discussing whether Christians were around during Epicurus' time (Epicurus lived from 341-270 B.C.), Sherri chimed in, "[The Greeks] had Christians 'cause they threw them to the lions."

When Whoopi tried to cautiously navigate her through the timeline of basic world events, saying, "I think this might predate that," Sherri responded, "I don't think anything predated Christians." Joy's attempt to explain the Greek-Roman-Christian chronology was futile, as Sherri insisted, "Jesus came first before them." Sherri's argument was all the more powerful due to her convincing "use your finger to write on the table" trick, but she can't fight the facts. Perhaps if Barbara were on today she would have explained THAT WHOLE B.C. THING (you know, as in, Before Christ).

Wha? Seven (7) pages of thread on ignorance, distortion of the facts, rewriting history? This is something remarkable in our reality today? Au contraire, mes amis, this is just the same par for the course, humdrum, everyday, run of the mill, ordinary, common, routine, predictable, moot, regular, plain ol', garden variety, to be expected stupidity and arrogance available all day, anytime, now and ever, everyday, hourly, daily, immediately from your TV, your neighbors, your coworkers, your family and most certainly, your government. Hardly worth all the energy, heated rhetoric and "stuff" being spewed herein. Jeez, you coulda got the garage cleaned or the dog walked....

If television accurately depicts the state of the nation, then based on the show THE VIEW, we are doomed. When educated people tolerate stupidity and treat comments like the ones Shepherd made with the same status we accord cogent analysis and logic, then we all lose. We can no longer afford to tolerate dumb in this country. The way the host's of THE VIEW bent over backwards to avoid stating the obvious is a sad commentary on how far we have gone backwards as a civilization. By the way, if Shepherd can get intelligent people to remain quiet in the face of her galactic stupidity, it begs the question-who is the real moron on THE VIEW?

To me, this is just unacceptable stupidity. This reflects on women across the entire country who watch this show, the fact that she is not immediately reprimanded for this staggering ignorance. The depth of stupidity in this woman is simply unbelievable, and it shouldn't be tolerated on a high profile show of "discourse."

Serious question here...

Why the need to bash women, or blacks, or Christians based on this woman's offhand comments?

Why not simply hold Sherri accountable for her own actions and leave it at that?

I have no more problem with someone believing there were Christians before Christ then I do with folks who believe the dead are going to come back to life and climb out of their graves.
Wait a minute. Oh yeah. Those are the same people. And they pick our leaders and set the course for history.
We are doomed.
Iron age superstition will destroy humanity and they will put it down as the will of God
Bring on the apocalypse, mother truckers, bring it on.

Theology being beyond her, and I doubt if someone who thinks the world could still be flat comprehends Christ's statement about being the Alpha and Omega, I say give the doofus a pogo stick, a hip-hop ipod, and a triple hit of speed, and aim her West. By the time she gets to Phoenix, her brains will have fallen out and she won't be able to embarrass herself unintentionally in public anymore, or bore the intelligent members of the species.

The only thing certain is that Sherri has the mind of a U.S. Republican President.

I don't know much about her except that I'm embarrassed for her, for myself, and for the nation. We have seriously failed our educational responsibility to our kids.

Bush failed himself and his family and now America, but he had all the resources anyone would need to convert head-mush into a brain.

Sherri, I suspect, did not have decent educational opportunities. She may just be George in women's clothing, but it is well established that minority communities do not get the funding or instructional excellence generally available to non-minorities. In most instances, it's intentional state and federal strategy. But not always.

Sherri should not be on any medium that requires knowledge. I'm inclined to think Whoopi gently set her up with the "world is flat" bait.

It is shameful of ABC to allow this Sherri person to humiliate herself in front of millions of people with her vacuous dribble. I am surprised that her fellow panelists don't complain because she brings down the show's level of sophistication to the equivalence of an "infomercial."

Dear sweet Jesus died not for our sins, but out of sheer exhaustion of the likes of Sherri and the rest of his sheep. This is what "God" gets for missing the 11th commandment "Thou shall not live with a smooth brain." And if thee need to, please sell since it is new and never used.
