"Embarrassing" Slip-Ups Turn Imus' Second Day Into "Technical Train Wreck"

Just 24 hours after Don Imus put his show back on track, he got blindsided Tuesday by one of the ugliest technical train wrecks in recent radio and TV memory.

On their first day in a new studio set up for the RFD-TV simulcast of his WABC (770 AM) radio show, Imus and his team found much of their equipment didn't work properly through the first half of the show.

Clearly furious, Imus refrained from a major outburst even after he had to postpone and then shorten a phone interview with columnist Tom Friedman because the phone connection at first didn't work at all and then made Friedman sound like he was speaking from a mine shaft.

Think of it as karma payback for all the racist crap he's put out. Also it's well known that he's been copying Stern for years. Imus has 2 African-American co-hosts instead of one for Stern? Now THERE'S an earth shattering radio programming move. But hang on, what does he do then. He keeps the same asshole producer that gets rich writing n****r jokes! Maybe that's tied to his rant against Sharpton when he said "you people aren't gonna destroy me." And of course there's no racist connotation in that all, is there. Please!

Poor Don Imus. He had techical difficulties. Oh, woe is Don.

I have been in radio broadcasting for 35 years. I have worked in station studios that could best be described as toilets. One had a 20 year old Sparta board cobbled from a portable DJ system. We had very old turntables and only two cart machines (this was in days before digital stuff). The furniture was made from plywood and the mikes came from Radio Shack. Our on air phone was a second mike pointed to the telephone speaker. The whole place smelled funny and the walls were painted to look like King Kong cum stains. It was absolutely disgusting. Yet, we performed on that outhouse of a station and in six week, went from unseen on the ratings to number one. The key ingredient that we had that Don & Co. don't is talent.

So when the ultra rich stations, like WABC and RFD TV have problems, pissing poor Donny off, all I can think to say is "Suck it up, assholes."
