Jenna Bush Phones Home On Ellen DeGeneres

Jenna Bush appeared on the Ellen show, taped yesterday but airing today. Ellen surprised her with a phone and a request for Jenna to call her parents, just to prove she can. The President and First Lady both yukked it up with the daytime host.

As a gay man, I am offended quite honestly that Ellen DeGeneres would have Ms. Bush as a guest on her show. Ellen's pioneering work for gay rights notwithstanding, this ploy saddens me. The Bush Administration has been not but awful on gay issues and the very week we had an American gay diplomat resign in protest over discrimination at the State Department she has as a guest the First Daughter and then has her call her father. Frankly Ellen this more than just disappointing, it is a serious lapse of judgment.
