Four boy actors in the movie "The Kite Runner" have left Afghanistan out of concern they could be ostracized or subjected to violence because of a rape scene in the movie, a film executive said.

"The Kite Runner," which had its world premiere on Tuesday in Hollywood, is based on the 2003 best-selling novel by Afghan-American writer Khaled Hosseini. In the story, the main character witnesses the rape of his friend but does nothing to stop it.

Although the film is not scheduled for release in Afghanistan, there are concerns that pirated DVDs could reach Kabul and some residents might react violently to the rape scene.

I read the book and I thought was fantastic.

It was well written.

Although the beginning of the story till

the end was very said.

Khaled Hosseini is unbelievable writer.

I really recommend the book.

The more I read about situations like this one, the flogging of a rape victum, rioting over cartoons and calling for the death of a teacher over the name given to a toy teddy bear, the less I care about the people in these countries.

For the love of God, man is on the verge of going to Mars, and these people are can't climb out of the dark ages?

What about the rape scene are the Afghans going to be so mad about. From what I have read, it is common in Afghanistan for men to take young boys and abuse them a la ancient greece. This sick stuff is part of their culture. Their anger seems phony to me.

The Producers of this film paid each of the main boys about $10,000 saying that was a lot of money for an Afghani. They were taken out of the country to work in China, for months. Their pay was about $833 a week.
$833 a week to star in a movie. Sometimes a set is just a sweatshop with cameras.

Why can't we just leave these people alone and let them live their own lives in their own culture?

How lucky were the Afgan people, when the Us invaded their country to bring freedom and Democra...no wait!

Stupidity it's Universal. As I can see.

They dont give a shit about REAL rapes or women being stoned to death, but they care about FICTION situations.

Good luck for the kids.
