This is another fine bill that the democrats have passed that would be absolutely great for America, passed no thanks to the republicans bent on ruining America by catering to the rich. Yet I doubt that the democrats will get much credit by the media for passing this legislation, just as the other legislation they have passed gets ignored just so the tag "Lame Duck" can be claimed.

The democratic led congress continues to be called a “Lame Duck” congress and it seems that democrats get all the blame for legislation not being passed, which to start with it is hard to pass anything when the party only has a very, very small majority…a majority which is not big enough to override the republicans, but the real reason never gets mentioned. It’s not that the democrats cannot pass anything, it’s due to republicans trying to block everything…even legislation that is essential to America, but the republicans will try to block anything just so they can try to make the democrats look bad! Now what is so sad about this and what should be examined thoroughly by the media is how the republicans have no interest in the American people as it is the American people who are hurting due to the republicans blocking all legislation.

Their only objective is to serve the GOP in devious and downright criminal ways regardless of the fact that America is suffering because of their actions. It’s funny how most all of the media report that the democrats are not able to pass any kind of legislation, which they have passed several important bills that rarely get mentioned, such as the two dollar raise in the minimum wage, but the media mostly fails to mention the real problems with congress which is the republicans in congress voting against any and all legislation not because they feel that it is wrong, but only to make the democrats look bad and to stall congress and this should be criminal because the American people are the ones who are suffering due to the republicans selfish self-serving attitude!!!

We do know they can make cars that get 35 + mpg because they are doing it now. What they cant do is stand not to make the huge profits that SUVs bring them. Remember, it was the profit difference of the Hummer that killed the EV1. And consumers ate it up.
Just think if GM pushed the EV1 and high mpg autos instead of SUVs. There would likely be more oil in the world and the now needed technology would be much more advanced.

And for Congress, I just wish someone would actually get through their thick skulls that even though it has short term gains for farms and companies like ADM, ethanol from corn is more a joke , especially on the scale that would be needed, and , it has a side effect of raising food product prices too. Maybe sugar, maybe something else completely than ethanol, but everything Ive read and seen, and I even personally know some farmers in Wisconsin and Michigan who produce their own ethanol on sight and run farm equipment off it, and even they say its ridiculous to try, and will cost more than gas from oil on a large scale.

By the way, from watching a little Cspan today I understand that Rethuglicans are becoming experts on the same tactics they cried and whined about when democrats even threatened to do, Filibustering. I just dont understand why Dumborats arent making noise about this. After all, the rethugs pretended to be against filibusters when they were in power, and now they apparently use it regularly. can you say , hypocrite?

This is a bullshit bill because it exempts the biggest gas guzzlers - monster pickup trucks and SUV's - from the new CAFE standards.
