Huckabee: Gay Marriage Would End Civilization

Forget terrorists. Mike Huckabee has identified a threat right here at home that would result in the downfall of our whole civilization.

GQ: Is the strategy shifting because social conservatives are losing on those core issues? Ten years ago, it would have been unimaginable to have gay marriage even in liberal Massachusetts. Now it's there.

Huckabee: I don't think the issue's about being against gay marriage. It's about being for traditional marriage and articulating the reason that's important. You have to have a basic family structure. There's never been a civilization that has rewritten what marriage and family means and survived. So there is a sense in which, you know, it's one thing to say if people want to live a different way, that's their business. But when you want to redefine what family means or what marriage means, then that's an issue that should require some serious and significant debate in the public square.

I am SO sick of candidates (and everyone else) identifying "marriage" as the biblical term. I don't believe the bible, so there!!

As a parent, I always considered parenting to be raising children in a loving, nurturing home. The MOST loving, nurturing family situation I have EVER seen in all my years, was that of a gay couple raising their adopted (or otherwise) children!!

We have so many children up for adoption in this country, who end up in the system; foster care and many other unqualified situations. Why not let two loving, caring people give them a home, love and a future??

And the candidates that are saying they are willing to allow "civil unions" are avoiding the issues, and the feelings that are involved. I won't vote for any of them!!!!!!!!

Hucklebuck is starting to scare me. he seems to get more loony with each passing day. Maybe the stress of the campaign will continue to wear on him until one day he just implodes. He'll show up at a press conference, buck naked except for a pair of black Chuck Taylors and a red tie wrapped around his neck. He'll point out his "STP" tattoo, and start singing "Rawhide."

It is possible that Senator Clinton is the best candidate. However, even though many may like the policies that Senator Clinton proposes, they should also consider her record, just as Senator Clinton insists.

The last Clinton Administration, when faced with the fact that protection rackets where assaulting, torturing and murdering people with poison and radiation, chose to avoid its responsibilities to incarcerate the criminals and to protect the citizenry.

Is Huckabee implying that if there was a law that allowed gay marriage then he would be inclined to be gay? I mean he's like saying if you build it they will come.

Does that mean that if we allow gay marraige everyone will be gay and that the ability to procreate will be lost and we will all just die out because we are, as it was said on South Park, Butt Buddies?

I remember talking to a politician who claimed that if we legalized marijuana, everyone would be stoned and America would just decline into chaos..... I immediately asked him if he really thought so little of his constituency and his country. And if that were truly the case and he wanted to be elected why didn't he represent the will of the people instead of his own? End of conversati­on...

This will line up the social conservatives within the GOP and that's about it. As long as nothing happens to rock the boat.

However the damage is done. There are now 43 states that have statutes that restrict marriage to two persons of the opposite sex. Even worse there are 26 states that passed constitutional amendments banning same sex marriage.

While it is an old wedge issue, same sex marriage may not happen for a very long time if ever. More possibly, civil unions could eventually happen, but there are some real legal problems in many states because of the
new statutes. With the states that constitutionally banned it, the issue would have to go before the voters again.
