Heisman

AP:

Tim Tebow needed only two years of college to graduate to Heisman Trophy winner, putting the sophomore in a class by himself.

Florida's folk-hero quarterback with the rugged running style and magnetic personality won the Heisman on Saturday night to become the first sophomore or freshman to take college football's most prestigious award.

Congrats to Tim Tebow and the Florida Gators!

Awesome that a young man can be as talented as he can, and as humble. This man is an All-Star without trying; a person of great character, a good student, and a great athlete.

The difference between Tebow and the second runner-up, McFadden of Arkansas, is selflessness. When interviewed afterward, McFadden expressed disappointment that HE didn't win the award. Had Tebow been number two, his first words would have been to congratulate the winner. Tebow embodies the character that is missing from many team rosters across the spectrum of athletic conferences.

I look forward to watching him lead Florida's football team through two more seasons of playing!

Oh, and yes, I am a BIG UoF Gators fan!!!!!!!

The SEC has the finest publicity department in all of college sports. That and help from ESPN is why this happened.

The Heisman is a joke. The people who manage this award tout it as the most outstanding college football player, yet linemen and defensive players are almost never seriously considered.

You can't tell me that LSU's Glen Dorsey or Virginia's Chris Long aren't as good as this year's finalists? Those two guys made game-changing plays all year long (and are both likely to have significantly better pro careers than any of the four finalists - I've watched Chris Long for four years and have yet to see him take a play off (in a game, practice, or scrimmage).

Two years ago everybody laughed at the Houston Texans for bypassing the phenomenal Vince Young and the one-of-a-kind Reggie Bush. Bush's first year was okay, his second was a huge disappointment, and while Young has shown flashes he's nothing more than an average NFL QB. Mario Williams, the lineman selected ahead of them, had a great second season and has become a dominant player.

Heisman Schmeisman.

Algore must have been a close second.

I think Tim Tebow did deserve the Heisman. He did something nobody have ever done before...running for 20+ touchdowns and passing for 20+ touchdowns in one year. He also has a national championship ring. Not a bad resume. However, I believe Colt Brennan will be a better Pro QB.

this is all bush's fault. prior to him being president this never happened another count for articles of impeachment.

I'm a graduate of the University of Florida and a very proud Gator fan. I've seen Tebow play, and believe me, the Gators would not have had the kind of season they had without young Mr. Tebow. Even last year, during the national championship season, his contributions to the team were monumental. He is most deserving of the Heisman, and for me the best part of the ceremony last night was seeing Danny Wuerffel (UF's last Heisman Trophy winner) give Tebow a hug. It's Great to Be a Florida Gator!

Hardly surprising after the constant fellatio Tebow has received from the sports media. Looks like Gary Danielson from CBS is finally ready to get down on his knees and get to business...after all that talk this year about Tebow's glistening pecs and overall "manliness," it's about time, I suppose.

My favorite part of all this is how Tebow is praised endlessly for things other athletes are chastisted for, like taunting.

Commentator quotes concerning identical behavior:

Tebow: "Well, would you look at that! Timmy is taunting the sidelines, har har chuckle chuckle, that Timmy Tebow doesn't take any guff off nobody!" *More delighted chuckling*

Black athlete: "Well, that's just classless. You've gotta have class in college football, like that Tim Tebow. The refs have gotta call that one. *Disapproving clucking*

Veronica: *GAGS LOUDLY*
