I guess it was too good to be true. That a media corporate conglomerate like General Electric would stand alone to do the right right thing, by stopping the war propagandists, was never going to happen. After all, it would impact their bottom line in multiple areas like Corp elite advertisers, board members and, of course, their earnings as a war profiteer contractor!

Let them have their ad. MoveOn.org and other liberal groups should get together and buy an ad that says 'Support and thank the troops especially at this time of year when they cannot be with their loved ones and families. Let them know they are appreciated and missed. Support them again by writing and telling your representatives and the President to bring them home. And continue to support them when they return with the physical, mental, and spiritual care that they will need to deal with the traumas of war. Support starts and ends at home.'

IMO the original NBC position put the network in a positin of playing censor to anything that appeared on a referenced website and having to check the website for content every day. This could also lead it into very difficult waters when you consider how many product based ads refrerence a website. Does that mean that NBC has to review every website's content and reject the advertisement? NO!

Their revised position is sensible. Run the ad.

I don't support the troops. If they supported and protected the U.S. Constitution, I would. Are these troops still hunting for Saddam's Nuclear WMD? Are they still importing bombs and weapons in Iraq? Are they hunting for Osama Bin Laden? Are they hunting down the US Military Grade Anthrax Terrorist? nope! As for NBC ABC CBS they don't even report on US Troop deaths anymore. Who cares right? USA! USA! USA!
