Oprah Winfrey said worry about the direction of her country and a personal belief in Barack Obama's ability to lead it pushed her to make her first endorsement in a presidential campaign, support with incalculable value in a tight race for the Democratic nomination.

Winfrey said she felt nervous and "out of my pew" as she addressed a gathering hall packed shoulder-to-shoulder in the largest gathering of Iowans in the campaign this year. But she did not hide her political convictions, making an argument for change from the Bush administration other than another Clinton in the White House.

The sad part of this entire matter is how many citizens will follow behind Oprah like it is another "Book of the Month" endorsement. Sheesh. No wonder this country is controlled by the rich and powerful. They use their heads for something besides a hat rack.

I made up my mind to vote for Hillary years ago. I can't fathom why Oprah has chosen to support Obama but the sort of idealism that surrounds the two of them isn't healthy, IMHO

From the footage I've seen, it was hard to tell if this was Oprah for Obama, or Obama for Oprah. The story and photos made it into Australi'a government TV and non-Murdoch media, but apparently not into pro-Hillary Murdoch's media.

Kimbro, managed to get a scholarship to Harvard and became good friends
with none other than Al Gore. He later became an assistant dean at a
Connecticut StateCollege. Isn't that something? As a '60s Radical you
can pump a bullet into someone's head and a few years later, in the same
state, you can become an assistant college dean! Only in America!
Erica Higgins was the woman n who served the Panthers by boiling the
water for Mr. Rackley's torture. Some years later Ms. Huggins was
elected to a California School Board. How in the world do you think
these killers got off so easy? Maybe it was in some part due to the
efforts of two people who came to the defense of the Panthers. These two
people actually went so far as to shut down Yale University with
demonstrations in defense of the accused Black Panthers during their
