Huckabee Won't "Recant" His Call For AIDS Quarantine

This morning on Fox News Sunday, former governor Mike Huckabee acknowledged that he previously advocated quarantining AIDS patients, but said he would not "recant" from that position.

In 1992, Huckabee wrote, "If the federal government is truly serious about doing something with the AIDS virus, we need to take steps that would isolate the carriers of this plague."

This morning, Huckabee first tried to deny his comments. "Chris, I didn't say that we should quarantine," he said. In fact, he said we "need[ed]" to isolate AIDS patients.

Pressed repeatedly by host Chris Wallace, however, Huckabee relented. "That is exactly what I said. I don't run from it, I don't recant from it. Would I say it a little differently today? Sure, in light of 15 years of additional knowledge and understanding, I would."

wow, what we really need is to quarantine right wing whack job politicians that would inflict more misery on the American public.

First we have a national mandatory testing program put in place where every citizen is tested for HIV every 90 days. Second, those identified as having the disease will be removed from society and housed in medically supervised Health Isolation Facilities. Third, those who develop drug resistant strains will have to be euthanised for the over all good of society. The Bible justifies this, since lepers were removed from society and kept in colonies. So let it be with HIV. And if we can accomplish this, then soon we'll be able to remove and isolate other undesirable groups. Yeah, that's the ticket. First we come for the HIV folks and then...

Sounds reasonable. He allowed as to how things have changed in the past 15 years. I'm not a fan of Huckabee, but I'm getting tired of seeing candidates' words and deeds of long long ago rising up to strike them down. On the other hand, the thing about releasing a rapist to rape again, and to murder ... now that's a doozy of bad judgment. Bigtime bad judgment. A person might think of switching political affiliations just to be able to vote for someone else in the primaries. But my god in heaven, which one could you vote for without wanting to strike yourself dead?

Gee, that tactic that has defeated all sorts of plagues throughout history is a bad idea? If we had isolated aids victims in 1992, hundreds of thousands would not have been killed by it today. It doesn't mean thowing them in jail, it means seperating them so they don't infect others. This is sound medical procedure that is being defeated by political correctness.
