O'D was certainly emotional, but he was not irrational. I tend to believe that we should all live and let live, but he made valid points about Romney's religion - and if Romney wasn't so zealous in his "faith" this debate would not be necessary. Mormonism is indeed a "different" religion from the usual msm religions; its history, its founders, its tenets have been outside the mainstream. All religions have histories they should be ashamed of, but in defending his religion, Romney is not demonstrating any tolerance or openmindedness.
Frankly, I would like for religion to be out of the debate period.
O'D is producer on Big Love, which is a program I enjoy watching; but I tend to think he is right in his argument here.

This is so much bullshit. Why is it we coddle friggin religions? They claim to bear the truth and we all should follow them but if you lay out the religious doctrines minus the self-serving spin, you are the insane person?
Please spare me! Most of the religious leadership in this country does not have the integrity to wear all the bizarre facets of their religion on their sleeves.

From what I gather Larry spoke his mind and expressed a rational and factual point of view in a forceful manner.
Superstitious thinking is a great danger to American Freedom and prosperity.
Their is no difference in the goals of osama bin laden and the taliban or Pat Robertson, John Hagee and christian fundamantalists: they both want a government that is ruled by religious priests.

Wow, what a stack of comments with no facts sited. And on ALL kinds of topics. NO ARTICLE to comment upon. No basic set to frame an arguement.
I've heard Mr O'Donnell many times and he does not suffer gross foolishness very long or well. So we need some actual facts about the situation and Mr. O'Donnell's arguement.
I'm looking for a link to actual stuff.
onenation: Wow, what a stack of comments with no facts sited.
I googled the video and I'm glad I did.
Lawrence O'Donnell did it. He said what
everyone was thinking and he called out
Buchanan right to his face and O'D called
out that con artist huckster Joseph Smith
and the Book Of Mormon and he called out
Mitts grandfather who had one wife for each
of Cheney's deferments and he called it a
racist religion that changed it's doctrine
in 1978 because it had to. Very much like
they were forced to go monogamous by the govn't.
He freaking said it all and I have to wonder
why there is no video under the headline.
The internet will hit the Mormons and they
won't know what it was till it's all over.
O'D called them a Scientology type religion
and, while I'm not a Scientologist, that
is an insult to Scientology.

What baffles me is why Mittler's speech got an hour and a half airtime (with a half hour commentary before and after) plus two hours of Chris Matthews Hardball? Why aren't EVERY Republican and Democratic candidate screaming for equal FREE airtime?
O'Donnell's rant is much easier for me to understand, than fawning Chris Matthew's response, he did everything but genuflect to Romney.

He DID lose his ever-loving mind. And he was OUTRAGEOUS. Look, all religions are cults, so how are the mormons worse? So their leader might have been a crook, so whatelse is new? So they have strange beliefs, so whatelse is new.
What is the point of disrespecting people's beliefs like that? It is a small step to saying they should have no rights (like they have no right to be elected president). Should we deny them the right to vote, confiscate their property, put them in concentration camps and then ovens. GIVE ME A BREAK.
I usually like him, but I am re-thinking my opinion of that guy. He is no better than George Bush and all the other fascists in power now.
What the heck is wrong with people these days? Don't let the lunacy of these right wingers make you crazy too. JEEEZ

It's always fun to watch a talking head lose his mind in a public place. The McLaughlin Group is *such* a group of blowhards, and L O'D shut them up for his anti-Mormon tirades! What a blast! That sort of thing doesn't happen in public anymore. Used to be that a person could knock anyone on anything and people would either shut up or agree. Political correctness has made most folks watch their mouths ... at least in public. But not L O'D! He went *off* on Mitt and the Mormons. I enjoyed every minute of it.
Being atheist and all, I don't think any religion is particularly better than any other religion. My Daddy used to go off on the Catholics and they told me in Sunday school that there were 2 kind of people in the world: Catholics and Christians. I knew there were Methodists and Mormons in the world, but I just didn't know what category they fell under. Thanks to having to learn to read at an early age, I don't even have to care anymore. Hallelujah! Praise Jesus!
