Colorado Church Gunman Sent Hate Mail To High School That Kicked Him Out Years Ago

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The gunman believed to have killed four people at a megachurch and a missionary training school had been thrown out of the school a few years ago and had been sending it hate mail, police said in court papers Monday.

The gunman was identified as Matthew Murray, 24, who was home-schooled in what a friend said was a deeply religious Christian household. Murray's father is a neurologist and a leading multiple-sclerosis researcher.

I read that he was carrying 1000 rounds of ammo. By quick calculations that's almost 80lbs (assuming .308 & 9mm w/ clips). He was planning to die at the scence or someone can't count.

As I sit here reading through some of the comments here, all I can do is sit here in stunned silence...

Whatever happened to the tenderness and compassion that was able to unite us as more than just Americans over 6 years ago?

On 9/11/01, didn't it seem as if EVERYONE in the world was an American?

Where are the Americans?

Any nation united on the common ground of hate is a nation dying from internal bleeding... it won't, it *can't* survive long.

We've all had our differences here on Huffington, but we're talking about innocent people being murdered dying at the hands of a psychopath - and some of you sound joyous...

I, personally, am glad the woman was able to stop the shooter before he was able to do any more harm, and I hope the best for the families involved.

News Flash Anit-gunners. There was no "Security Guard." There were several armed CITIZENS w/ concealed handgun permits who volunteered to protect the church after the first shooting.

I wonder how many parents of troubled, disaffected youth are wondering if their sons are going off the deep end, and out of those parents, I wonder how many of them have given them guns or are planning on getting them some, and tons of ammo for the Holidays? When is the next seemingly random mass killing going to happen? Where?

You reap what you sow. But when your angry spawn starts to "sow" his dementia all over the public square with a high powered weapon, then YOU are responsible.

Time to start putting the parents, guardians of these killers though the justice system. Your little monsters sitting in your basement blowing "people" to bits on a video game may not just be some sweet misunderstood kid. He may be a ticking timebomb that YOU need to defuse.

The Republican party is constantly forcing Americans to feel fearful that Arab/Islamic terrorists are going to come and eat our children.

Every time I go thru airport security I have to take my F*CKING SHOES OFF. Because America is supposed to be afraid of 'foreign' terrorists.

Yet, in every single case of mass murder since 9/11 it has been domestically grown and raised boys and men who have done the killing.
