Al Gore received his Nobel Peace Prize on Monday and urged the United States and China to make the boldest moves on climate change or "stand accountable before history for their failure to act."

In accepting the prize he shared with the U.N. climate panel, the former vice president said humanity risks sliding down a path of "mutually assured destruction."

Besides, even if we are in a man made warmup- what is the plan to reverse it? can it be reversed? whats the cost? how confident are the proposals that reversal will happen?

what about the other peer reviewed studies that conclude the current warming trend is all in a natural cycle?

Here you go.
This is what we've been telling you Gore acolytes ...

http://science-sepp.blogspot.com/2007/12/press-release-dec-10-2007.html

"Climate scientists at the University of Rochester, the University of Alabama, and the University of Virginia report that observed patterns of temperature changes ("fingerprints") over the last thirty years are not in accord with what greenhouse models predict and can better be explained by natural factors, such as solar variability."

And so is this ...

http://icecap.us/images/uploads/Evans-CO2DoesNotCauseGW.pdf

"Our scientific understanding of global warming has gone through three stages:
1.
1985 " 2003. Old ice core data led us strongly suspect that CO2 causes global warming.
2.
2003 " 2007. New ice core data eliminated previous reason for suspecting CO2. No evidence to suspect or exonerate CO2.
3.
From Aug 2007: Know for sure that greenhouse is not causing global warming. CO2 no longer a suspect.
The IPCC 2007 report (the latest and greatest from the IPCC) is based on all scientific literature up to mid 2006. The Bali Conference is the bureaucratic response to that report. Too bad that the data has changed since then!"

Greenland was once "green" meaning temperatures were much warmer in the past (and there were no reports of widespread flooding from the melting ice), so what's the problem?

Warmer temperatures mean less disease, longer growing seasons and more food, lower heating costs, and a better overall quality of life.

Some facts not so often mentioned in relation to global warming and its causes:
World population in 1800: less than 1 billion
World population in 1950: less than 3 billion
World population in 2007: approaching 7 billion
(thank you google)
It goes without saying that the amount of carbon dioxide, per person, put into the atmosphere in 1800 (before the use of oil, and as coal was starting to be used as fuel), was a whole lot less than it is today.
Combine the 7 fold increase in world population over 207 years, and the huge increase in per capita CO2 emissions, and it becomes more obvious why global warming is happening as rapidly as it is. The task of reversing it will require monumental effort.
Regarding terrorism? Why did Republicans give arms and aide to Osama bin Laden during the 1980s, when he was fighting the Russians in Afghanistan? Wasn't he a religious nut then, too?
If we did not need to keep troops in the middle east to secure the oil routes out of the area, Osama would not have had his cause celebre to attack the West. Like it or not, he and some like him want Westerners out of "their" area of the world.
In the shrinking world of the 21st century, very little is unrelated to the big picture.

From his speech:
"Mahatma Gandhi awakened the largest democracy on earth and forged a shared resolve with what he called 'Satyagraha' " or 'truth force.'

In every land, the truth " once known " has the power to set us free.

Truth also has the power to unite us and bridge the distance between 'me' and 'we,' creating the basis for common effort and shared responsibility.

There is an African proverb that says, 'If you want to go quickly, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.' We need to go far, quickly."
____________

We are the stewards of Planet Earth.
We are all responsible, every last one of us.

Someday sooner than expected these right wing Gore haters may be fighting me over drinking water. Since so many of them live in the south, I would think they might be keeping an eye on Georgia and look northward. We don't want them up here, though unless they have an attitude adjustment. Our attitude is take your biases and dry up literally and figuratively. Their only hope that that all those go-getters who sucked in Bush's war and got experience on how to live in a really hot arid climate (Iraq) may be able to help them all learn how how to make through when all their water sources dry up. Too bad ignorance and ultra reliance on the Bible as fact have left them unable to absorb real science enough to understand one of their own, a good southern boy like Al Gore, IS right. If you think Sherman's burning of Atlanta was bad, just imagine what Global warming...or in your mind frame God's wrath...is going to feel like by 2037.

Al Gore made a truly magnificent speech today in accepting his Nobel Peace Prize. He spoke of his political obituary and we can see he's moving on to a greater cause beyond America. Poor America being saddled with George Bush and the trainwreck he's created for all of us. The undoing of it may or may not come about.
