Obama Research On Edwards

ABC News:

Circulating among Iowa labor circles, I am told, is this leaflet, which looks to be a standard opposition-research paper against former Sen. John Edwards, D-NC.

The shocker? It's from Mr. Positive, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois.

Obama is making to many mistakes. Among his biggest are his wife and Oprah. His wife is a very negative influence on his campaign..the womans body language towards him says everything. And she never should have made the "he's stinky" statement..it may have been made in jest..but it really grated. As for Oprah..his allowing her to head up his campaign shows a real lack of leadership on his part and a bit of desperation. Using Oprahs personal popularity shows a weakness on his part to do the job himself. When he appeared on her show a while back..he made a point of saying he wouldn't accept favors..giving up the opportunity to be flown on Oprahs plane to a certain destination...and now he is allowing her to lead his campaign..not good. Perhaps if he just stode up in front of America and said his piece...what he was about... without the women interfering...I could get a better handle on who he is but I am afraid these two ladies..while probably well meaning..(not so sure about his wife, sorry) they will be his downfall. V.

Although the time has gotten short, Edwards has had an opportunity for some time. He needs to stay on target by constantly speaking to his strengths. He needs to pair them with the weaknesses of Clinton and Obama.

He is fortunate to have several points that are to his advantage: healthcare, social security, unions & jobs, et alia. He doesn't have to attack them; just point out the differences. He needs to ignore topics that are thought to be their strengths.

Obama's biggest advantage over Clinton (other than not being Clinton) is that he can be inspirational. Edwards can be inspirational and needs to concentrate on that to somewhat neutralize Obama's strength. He needs to return to being the nice guy and learn how to turn back attacks while remaining nice to contrast with the attacker.

As a closing note: Dean was inspirational but got carried away. One needs to be inspirational in a quieter way, emanating an inner strength.

The ball is in Edwards court. Obama is vulnerable on experience, on using right wing talking points on social security and healthcare, and on Union issues seeing as he's gotten by far the least Union support of the three Democratic frontrunners. Does Edwards want to win this thing? He brought Hillary down a few notches to have the benefits reaped by Obama. Now he has to bring Obama down a bit if he's going to have any hope. Obama just punked you, so get on it.

Obama`s current surge in pools is not necessarily because of Oprah, which is yet to be seen in the long term. He actually owes that to Edwards, who did a good job of on being on attack mode to Hillary, and Obama had to do half as much of the dirty work !

John Edwards is the Democrats best chance of taking back the White House.

If John Edwards can win the Democratic nomination it may put some of the red States in play for him such as NC, SC, GA, FL, AL, MS and LA. Neither Clinton or Obama have a snowballs chance in hell of carrying any of these States.

If you add just a couple of these red States for Edwards it would negate Karl Rove's plan to have the CA electoral votes split.

Being an Independent in one of the red states I see that in my State at least many of the people who are presently registered as RepubliCONS were formally Democrats, and you may see many cross the line and vote Democratic since they can't get excited about voting for Romney, Huckabee or Guialiani.

Having lived in the south all my life I know that unless the registered Republicans are excited about a candidate they will either cross party lines, or they simply won't vote which would be good for the Democrats either way.

I know quite a few Independents such as myself who have re-registered as Democrats to vote in the primary, but will change their voter registration back to Independent after the primaries. The vast majority of Independents I talk to overwhelmingly support John Edwards.

JOHN EDWARDS IN '08 (the republiCONS worst nightmare)

Well, since Edwards spend his time bashing Hillary, who by the way, didnt say anything negative about him until they pushed her to a corner, will now look over his shoulder and realize that Obama took his place. This is what he deserve for using "bitter and mean spirited remarks" about our Hillary. He should start hitting Obama hard now and stop worrying about "insider money and corporation money" which he has been harping these last months. Obama hit him sidewise and he sure didn't expect it from Mr. Hope and Wonderful Barrick Hussem Obama. Obama is playing dirty because he has convince most americans that he is a "sweet hopeful christian who see the world differently and hope to bring love into it". Bunch of "pipedreams". Please! If his wife keeps showing that sore face at his stumps (which shows her really true feelings about that billionare woman stroking her man 24/7) the american people will not want her as first lady. She should tell Oprah to go get herself another young cutie, this one is hers. You can't tell who the wife is anymore at these stumps!

According to CNN's latest poll, former NC Senator John Edwards is the most electable Democrat when matched against any GOP candidate.

I think it is hypocritical for Obama to talk about 'triangulation' and all of this nonsense about 'lets all just get along', while he has been the candidate that has done the most attacking!
At first Hillary (and I am not a Hillary supporter) was attacking Bush. Hillary only turned to Obama and Edwards when she finally had enough of them attacking her.
As my Senator, I elected Barack Obama to be my state's senator, not my state's Presidential candidate. Shame on him for turning his back on the people of Illinois.

Oh. My. God.

Barack Obama is not a perfect human being? He allowed his campaign to (gasp) criticize another candidate? How dare he! I thought he was full of hope!

Get off it people. The only people "canonizing" Obama are the people doing so sarcastically in order to criticize him when he falls short of sainthood. It's politics, people. Nobody's perfect, and sometimes you have to pull some punches.

If this is the worst thing Obama has done in this campaign (and it just might be), he's still better than all the other candidates in my opinion.

That being said, I like John Edwards quite a bit. And Joe Biden, for that matter.

I think they'll be at the top of the list of candidates for VP and Sec. of State in the Obama Administration.

I'll make a deal with the Edwards people. How about whichever one of our candidates makes it out of the first 4-5 primary states, we pull together and make sure HRC isn't our nominee?

Sound like a deal?

/my first choice: Obama/Edwards
//my second choice: Edwards/Obama
///I'd be thrilled either way

Pitiful attempt by the author, a known Obama-hater, to attack obama's character. The truth is that the Edwards campaign some time ago dropped anti-Obama literature in New Hampshire mailboxes. No one wrote THAT up as a dirty trick.

Nor should they. This is a campaign. It's competetive. They all do oppo docs, and this one was fact based, respectful, and in response to a direct request for the info.

If Edwards had been even a little consistent in his "stands" on the issues, he wouldn't be having so much difficulty now.

This is nothing, a non story. Edwards and Obama have treated eachother with kid gloves because they know they are going to share the ticket and they have to work together to take out Hillary. I have seen countless interviews with both Edwards and Obama and they have both been baited into taking shots at the other and they have both chosen not to. They are tag-teaming her, each in a different way and it's working to bring her numbers down. If this is the worst they can do to discredit eachother they obviously aren't really trying to.
