Scooter Libby Withdraws His Appeal

Scooter Libby

AP reports former White House aide I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby is no longer appealing his conviction in the CIA leak case, a tacit recognition that continuing his legal fight might only make things worse.

Libby, the former chief of staff to Vice President Dick Cheney, was convicted of perjury and obstruction but President Bush commuted his 30-month prison sentence in July. Had Libby won a new trial, that commutation would be meaningless and Libby would again face potential prison time.

White House Press Secretary Dana Perino refused to comment on the trial during today's press conference despite the fact that there is no longer a pending appeal. Talking Points Memo points out that Tony Snow wouldn't discuss the case previously because of Libby's appeal.

Libby should be in prison. Bush should be in prison. Cheney should be in prison. Rumsfeld should be in prison.

It's amazing, that these thugs can go on and on while there are people they have detained illegally and tortured illegally, still suffering in prison.

It's morally outrageous, and it tells you just how corrupt our government has become that all of this national disgust is ignored.

The public needs to understand, he will get a pardon from Bush before he leaves office. The only way to halt that, is to impeach bth cheney and Bush, and take them all down with Rove, Rumsfeld, Rice, and throw them int the same cell. Like a pack of angry dogs, they will be singing like canaries and blaming each othr instead of themselves. Its time to go after all of them, way past time.

I'm a democrat (in theory) and I can't believe all you people that think that this Libby story will make damn bit of difference to this illegal corrupted administration. It won't. So stop with all this "Maybe now the democratic majority in congress will finally go get these bad guys". They won't. I've got news for you pie in the sky optimists.. we are not in the process of losing our country, we have already lost it.

People need to get mad enough to get off their asses and do something. They've had every reason to get mad and act up until this point but haven't done nearly enough to make difference. And they won't.. ever.

We have lost this country because not enough people cared to save it. I'm outta here.

WASHINGTON (CNN) — Former Vice President Al Gore denied again that there were any campaign plans in his immediate future, but told CNN Monday that he hadn't "ruled out getting back into the political process at some point" — and that if he did return to political life, it would be to take another shot at the White House.

The Nobel Peace Prize laureate, speaking from the Oslo site of Monday's awards ceremony, told CNN's Jonathan Mann that he didn't expect to ever get back in the political process, but that "if I did get back, it would be as a candidate for president."

Here we go sports fans, big Al is back in the saddle again, and he's aiming to set things right, bad guys better start heading for the hills – yeeeeeeeeeeeehaaaaaaaaaaaaaaw!

Scooter Libby is no small fish. Libby is one of the original signers of the PNAC Statement of Principles - The NeoCon oath of sorts, and one of the main architects of the plan for world domination now being implemented by Bush and Cheney.

Just Google Libby+PNAC and see what wonderful stuff shows up!

This guy needs to be put away for good. But, of course, his partners in crime will most certainly grant him pardon.

Does anybody know where the Libby defense fund money is going?

Can it be used to pay his fine?

When the lawyers are paid for can Libby pocket the rest?

This has been talked about before in articles on HuffingtonPost but this whole thing strikes me as amazingly corrupt. Probably almost all the money in the fund is derived from companies benefiting from Bushco policies and largess. So now they can just secretly funnel payoff money like this? I suspect the idea that individuals are contributing to the fund is almost a complete fiction put forth to cover up the seedy nature of what is really transpiring here.

That's quite a picture. Yes that's quite a little group of thugs. I sure think they would look better in orange jump suits though.

A criminal like Libby brings all the closeted Treehouse queens and their fag hag out to blather and seethe and expose their hated for America.

It's a beautiful thing.
