If you spend any time watching Dana Perino respond to reporters on the matters that matter to the nation, you begin to wonder to oneself: "My God, is it possible for mere mortals to divine the meticulous complexities of the President's imagination?" Perino often seems at a loss to provide even the slightest insight into the man to whom she's sworn "Once a Bushie, Always a Bushie" fealty.

Well, let the record state that today, Perino actually managed to penetrate the inner workings of Bush's mind in order to attempt a "characterization" of the President's "thinking."

MS. PERINO: The President -- what I can tell you is that the President has been -- long been concerned that we don't have a lot of information about Iran or its activities. It's a very closed society, very opaque.

A rare breach in the Press Room firewall as it turns out.

ON WHETHER SCOOTER LIBBY CAN EXPECT A PARDON:
PERINO: "Well, we never comment on whether or not the President will be granting or not granting pardons to anybody."

ON WHETHER THE "PRESIDENT [IS] CONCERNED ABOUT THE...CIA'S REPUTATION...AND INTEGRITY"
PERINO: "Well, one, I haven't -- I'm not allowed to characterize the President's reaction to this..."

REALLY, WHY NOT?
PERINO: "Well, I think I -- pressed on that, I would say that I think the President feels very highly about all of the members of the intelligence community, and at the CIA. He knows that they work extremely hard in order to keep all of us protected, that they try to do everything that they possibly can."

SERIOUSLY?
PERINO: "In terms of -- I can't talk about that particular -- I can't characterize the President's thinking on that."

Takeaway? Well, what we can tell you is that we have long been concerned that we don't have a lot of information about the White House or its activities. It's a very closed society, very opaque.
