Wil Smith is ready to hit the campaign trail for Barack Obama. When asked if he would do what Oprah Winfrey is doing on behalf of the Democratic presidential hopeful, the "I Am Legend" star told The Post's Sandra Guzmán, "Yeah. I opened it up to him. I just gave him a call and asked him to tell me wherever you think you need me. I think he's what the future of America is going to be. Barack represents what I feel is the future of the optimum survival of America."

What is this world coming to when we have to have black actors go and stump for presidents nominee. Will Smith, I hope your movie Legend is a failure. You and your wife should be ashame of yourself for being racist. You are stumping for him because he is black. If the guy wasn't black you and your wife would be taking sun at the beach! What has become of this democratic party. Does that mean because he is half muslim, some important muslim in this country must vote for him too? What a bunch of racists. Hypocrites always show up at the end. Let me see- are we missing Diana Ross? Should we go and put up a sign saying :Only Blacks allowed! The african race has become more racist in this generation. I am glad that I am a black female from the old school, where love and race didn't really matter in the 70s and I am not going to vote because of my skin!!!

When the curtain closes on caucus day, I predict white voters will reach deep down into their innate fear of a "black uprising" and pull the lever for John Edwards. I'll be the first to admit I was wrong if Obama wins, and I will certainly interpret his victory as a sign that America is long last moving past race to some degree; unfortunately, I sincerely believe racism is so entrenched in this country the urge to vote for a familiar face (a white guy) is almost inbred and to vote for a black guy for president would be analogous to voting for E.T.. Sorry, I haven't caught the Obama wave, I just know how race can turn the tides.

For a country that claims to be "over" the race issue, you couldn't tell it by reading these posts.

What do Smith, Oprah and Obama have in common. A controversial observation but a realistic one in the context of 2007 America. I'm not sure how all this support helps Obama with predominantly trad white voters in rural IA, NH or SC. Many of his most devoted supporters may think America is ready to elect a relatively inexperienced black guy, and Obama is a very attractive and good senator, but they are simply deluding themselves if they think his candidacy is going to survive when it gets down to the wire.

There is some truly ridiculous posts on this thread.

Will Smith will be a help to Obama, because WIll and his wife Jada Pinkett-Smith have:

With his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, founded the Will and Jada Smith Family Foundation (based in Baltimore, MD) to benefit inner-city community development, youth educational projects and under-privileged children and their families.

Hosted the Nelson Mandela AIDS benefit concert in George, South Africa.

Dedicated time and money to helping suffering families and children in South Africa.

Smith took part in the "America: A Tribute to Heroes" charity telethon for victims of 9/11.

Plus, according to this link (http://www.hno.harvard.edu/gazette/2005/02.24/13-jada.html) Jada Pinkett-Smith was "named the 2005 Artist of the Year by the Harvard Foundation of Harvard University. Pinkett Smith, the unanimous choice of the selection committee" was "awarded the foundation's most prestigious medal at Harvard's annual Cultural Rhythms ceremony."

So let's not hate. Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith bring a lot to the table, and will be serious assets for the Obama Campaign.

Obama 08!

Ok. I am sure there may be one Bisexual black/Asian/Hispanic person who once got into a fight with a white person, and watched the Movie Malcolm X, while drinking a Mimosa, with a 12 year old child in the house, who was sitting on their knee, who took too much viagra by accident, instead of smoking his weed, that had cancer and believes he was cured by Jesus, on Friday the Thirteenth, and imagines himself as being sent by aliens to warn mankind about our impending doom, to the martians, known as Klaatu, whose planet was once like earth but was destroyed by PEOPLE ACTING LIKE TWITS BECAUSE FAMOUS BLACK PEOPLE ARE SUPPORTING A CANDIDATE... Oh well not Magic Johnson, or Andrew Young, or Half of Jesse Jackson's family or Maya Angelou or...if you don't get the point yet this is called sarcasm.

Any person who thinks every Black person is backing Obama needs to stop trying to couch their fear of Black people rising up in some mad revolution if Obama wins. By the way this was famous diatribe before and after the Civil War.

Also if Obama currently has more support amongst White people, does that not debunk this idiocy being spammed about on this thread? In the end you may not like a candidate, but deciding based upon the fact one person voted for the candidate is a waste of the process. Just draw straws or something.

I am sorry, but this stuff reminds me of closet racism and it is disgusting. There is wide ranging support for Obama. This is not like if Adolf hitler is alive and backed Giuliani. I am not gonna believe that Giuliani is stupid nor a racist to want that support. But then this I guess is freedom of speech. I am glad Oprah and Obama and Will smith all support your right to twist this all out of whack.

Will Smith , blah blah blah. He still thinks that the 9/11 attacks were perpretrated by 19 guys (the ones allegedly flying the planes were terrible pilots) taking marching orders from a 6'5" guy in a cave ,on dialysis, who is likely DEAD.

Years ago, a colleague of mine predicted that Will Smith will run for President someday. Think about it.

I'm not sure what good this is supposed to do. I mean I don't think anyone vocally dislikes Smith, but he's not exactly Oprah, is he?

Maybe it will help draw in the middle-aged, white soccer-mom demographic. I mean they're the only sort of people I've ever known to identify really strongly with someone so bland and suburban as Will Smith.

The level at which the right hates Hillary crosses over into madness. But that being said, there are legitimate reasons for Democrats to not like or trust her either, and these have been brought on by herself. And I will name three right here:
1. Her refusal to apologize for, or admit it was a mistake in voting to authorize the use of military force in Iraq. We have had seven years of a president who cant admit when he has made a mistake - we dont need seven more.
2. The fact she takes more money from Washington lobbyists than ANY other person running for president - Democrat or Republican.
3. Her. It is her sheer arrogance which rubs so many the wrong way, this attitude of - it's my time in history and you are all just living in it. It is also her reflexive paranoia and lashing out at those would dare oppose her pre-ordained march to the oval office.

I truly believe that Barack Obama is the only person who can unite and inspire this country, and bring real change to our government. A man who spoke out against the war when it wasn't popular to do so, doesn't accept money from Washington lobbyists, and is just a good decent human being.

.
I can understand why O-BOMBA joined-up with Winfrey: he desperately wants to capture the ugly, fat, black lesbian demographic from Billary. --All 30 of them.

But what does Smith have to offer? Support from incredibly bad and shallow actors? Admittedly, that's a much larger demographic.

Why are those black celebrities for Obama? Is it because of the color of his skin or because of his "ideas"? Okay, what are his "Ideas", does anyone know.
