Calif. City Planners Set To Lose Posts For Backing Blackwater Camp

The scandal in Iraq involving Blackwater, the private security firm, is a world away from this tiny town near the Mexican border. But five members of the community's planning group are expected to lose their posts on Tuesday for approving a Blackwater training camp on an old chicken farm here.

Results of a mail-in-ballot recall election against the members are scheduled to be announced on Tuesday. Three of the group's nine members have already been removed because Blackwater opponents revealed they had been improperly appointed.

Folks in SD county have to fight extra hard against stuff like this because it's republican/anti tax territory. FYI they have NO county fire dept. There is an ongoing attempt to relocate the SD Int. airport to near this same location. There was a proposal for a massive dump on indian reservation land that I think was defeated. The BOS routinely allow more and more surburban sprawl to occur-right now it ends in Alpine, they have to try really hard to keep it from creeping into Portrero.
We'll see what happens here, seem like those with the powers that be might get the message-no Blackwater here.

This is just plain stupid. I recommend allowing Shitwater to move there. It would make it convenient for the townspeople, and the Mexican revelers just across the border, to lob rocket propelled grenades and mortars into Shitwater's compound. This would give the locals and the neighboring Mexicans a commonality thereby showing what cooperation amongst people can do. We could even give the Mexican folks who help out faux citizenship papers which would pacify the immigrant haters as well.

I applaud the voters of Potrero. Just as citizen soldiers defended our freedoms with muskets at Concord, citizen voters did the same for us all with ballots by repelling an infestation of Blackwater mercenaries. At least voters are helping to defend our country from enemies foreign and domestic, even if their elected rulers won't. These modern day Hessians should not be given a foothold on our shore! Keep 'em out. I have family in the area around Potrero, and it's one of the few remaining refuges from the sprawling urbanization of southern California, even though it's a forty-five minute drive from downtown San Diego.

Keep Blackwater out. They will ruin the area, and one of the few pristine places remaining in the coastal mountains near the border.

I live in San diego and the thought that Diane Jacobs will make the decsion tells me we have no way to fight the intrusion of Blackwater. Private armies in anyones backyard has to be looked at as if another country was building a base in our backyard. That is what it is clear and simply. The army of blackwater has no US government control and is filled with guys gung ho to fight from all over the world. The idea they will be here to train people in the military, police, border guards etc is saying very clearly that those who now train these groups in the government are failing in their jobs. If we had a choice or a right to prevent this intrusion it is gone with Ms Jacobs being the decider. Funny how a non word decider has come to mean forced upon the people.
