AP:

Republican presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee, an ordained Southern Baptist minister, asks in an upcoming article, "Don't Mormons believe that Jesus and the devil are brothers?"

The article, to be published in Sunday's New York Times Magazine, says Huckabee asked the question after saying he believes Mormonism is a religion but doesn't know much about it. His rival Mitt Romney, the former Massachusetts governor, is a member of the Mormon church, which is known officially as the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

If Huckabee gets the nomination (doubtful) and the Democrats play it very smart (probably won't) - the Religious Right could end up severely damaged by the end of 2008 since for once they will have a nominee who can have their beliefs put under a big spotlight and will have to really defend.

Damn, Huckabee is like the perfect Republican candidate.
It’s no wonder their mysoginistic xenophobic double digit IQ base is so attracted to the guy.
I swear, FOX news and Pat Robertson are going to have to rethink their support for St. Rudy.
I mean here’s someone willing to isolate the gays, kick out the Mexicans, outlaw abortion,
make women submissive again, and spread the same Neocon horseshit that we’ve been wading through for seven years now.
Here’s a guy willing to take all those “gifts” and will LISTEN to lobbyists who afterall are only promoting free enterprise and the American way.
The fact that Huckabee has virtually no foreign affairs experience, didn’t even know about the NIE, makes him that much better. He’ll be able to continue the same fantasy about supporting a “democracy in Iraq” and saving this democracy from AlQaeda and Iran, without ever mentioning Saudi Arabia, or other repressive governments whom we support in the name of freedom.
He’ll be able to keep it simple for FOX news and people who can’t find the Persian Gulf on a map.
Hell be one of the good guys, or at least play one on TV.
All he’ll need is a good strong Vice President who can tell him what to do and what to say,
(I hear Wolfowitz is available).
Since the foundation has been laid by the Warner Defense Act, the Military Commissions Act, the signing statements, Presidential Directive 51, and the soon-to-be-law, HR 1585, which will place the National Guard under Federal control, Huckabee may be the perfect heir apparent to the eventual change of government and implementation of martial law.
Hell, with someone like Huckabee on the ticket, and a little razzle dazzle at the polls, Bush and Cheney may be able to let the elections go forward afterall.

Republicans will basically be casting their vote for president on an issue that is tantamount to arguing over whether the Enterprise could defeat an Imperial Star Destroyer, only dumber.

O, Come All Ye Truly Unfaithful
Posted by NanceGreggs in General Discussion: Politics

"O, Come All Ye Truly Unfaithful, and remember that as you do to the least amongst us, so you do unto the Lord you have steadfastly ignored, choosing instead to praise the replacement Savior, a war-mongering, torture-loving, money-grubbing idol who is apparently much more to your liking – simply because he is created in your own image, and is more than willing to bless your pride rather than your humility, your greed rather than your generosity, your sins rather than your virtues....."

Huckabee: "Don't Mormons Believe That Jesus And The Devil Are Brothers?"

That's the first positive thing I've heard about Mormons lately.

The wonderful thing about mythology is that anyone can change it or add to it at any time. It's like wikipedia.

You know, we expect our children to stop believing in Santa Claus after a certain age, why do we think it's alright for adults to contiue believing in their imaginary friends?

Huckabee: "Don't Mormons Believe That Jesus And The Devil Are Brothers?"

And this is newsworthy how??? Here's a better question:
"Didn't Huckabee utilize his clout to free a serial rapist and now murderer?"

Or how about:
"What the latest flip flop from the Romney camp???"

Here's something I'm practically dying to know:
"What scatterbrained hairbrained BULLSH*( scheme is going to be concocted to abuse the middle class this time to brow beat the workers of this country to bail out the rich???"

Answers to that question might actually be newsworthy!

Off-topic, I know. But this caught my eye and I thought I'd share it. The truth about single-payer health care is that the members of our elected government have it but many Republicans still refuse to see that others might benefit from it:

Nurses: Cheney 'would probably be dead' but for government healthcare by Nick Juliano
Published: Tuesday December 11, 2007

"Campaigning for politicians to address universal healthcare, a nurses' group purchased provocative newspaper ads that warn Vice President Dick Cheney would "probably be dead by now" if he was not part of a single-payer government run healthcare system that keeps his oft-adled heart ticking."

YEAH AND AREN'T SOUTHERN BAPTISTS THE 'FIRE AND BRIMSTONE'FOLKS.
Regardless, they hold to the doctrine that man is evil and naughty and must be controlled.
Bull SH*T!!!!!!
Man is not evil, nor a beast that must be restrained at all times.
I doubt a "god' would unleash such a force on the unsuspecting co- inhabitants. Nor would a 'god' put such an 'ugly' centerpiece to the 'great design' and leave it in charge. Is god get off on destroying his own creation-doubful. Nor has nature given rise to our evolution just because we are blood thirsty idiots.
God and Nature do not hate man- Man hates man. Religion is snakeoil. We are not yet intellegent enough to understand Nature intricate design- and we have physical evidence to support our reasoning. If there is a 'great creator' how dare us claim to be able to comprehend his intricate design and plans??? We don't so it's irrelevant. Let's address the things we can control and change for the better.
Sick of the philososphical BS. A little less talk and a lot more action please!!!!!
These two (and sooo many others) are riding on the coat tails of their doctrines, not on their own actions. I could care less if you beleive in supreme Aliens- WHAT HAVE YOU DONE FOR THE WORLD LATELY????
Religions Hate each other- is that not evidence enough they are false prophets?
In the face of a god or Nature- we are mere humans, but we are the top creation for what ever reason, or by what ever means - we are reponsible for everything. By doing that we bring 'glory' to both.
That's why I just answer- Atheist.
