AP:

Republican presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee, an ordained Southern Baptist minister, asks in an upcoming article, "Don't Mormons believe that Jesus and the devil are brothers?"

The article, to be published in Sunday's New York Times Magazine, says Huckabee asked the question after saying he believes Mormonism is a religion but doesn't know much about it. His rival Mitt Romney, the former Massachusetts governor, is a member of the Mormon church, which is known officially as the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Awesome, the Republican nomination process is about to devolve into a theological argument about which wacky fundamentalist world view is true and good.

Please, Jesus, come back soon...there are few matters we need you to clear up for us.

Like I said before since there is so much emphasis on religion by these presidential candidates whom act holier than the pope there should be a debate on how much they know about religion. Questions will be posed by only religious leaders in the Christian, Jewish and Islamic religions. Anyone that chooses to not participate will be considered not religious. It is time to see what these bozos really know about the subject they haphazardly throw around.
There will be one debate and it will include all political parties and it will run as long as it takes to hear from all candidates. Religion seem to be a driving force for the future of the United States and the safety or destruction of the human race and I for one would like to know where these people stand.

Ahhhh, seeing these two going after each other over the minutia of fairy tales is truly poetic justice!

Keep it up, guys! You can't buy entertainment this good.

Here we see the consequence of infusion of religion into politics. The Baptists attack the Mormons. Romney attacks the Moslems saying they don't belong in his cabinet. The crazies want the coingress to issue a bill in recognition of the importance of Christianity. Bishops and ministers are running for the presidency. Presidential candidates endorse the notion that women should be subservient to their husbands, as called for in the Bible. McCain and others genuflecting at the altar of Bob Jones University. Even Democrats like Obama want to drag religion into politics, pandering to the evangelicals with the prominent use of a homophobe in his campaign.

Sectarian divisions will become more and more acrimonious as this progresses. This is the direct consequence of the politicians' failure to observe a separation of church and state. If some smart politician had some sense, he/she would call for unity among Americans by stopping this battle for religious domination of the political landscape.

Memo to Huckabee and Romney: You are not running for Pope, or Archbishop of Canterbury. You are running for president.

In our country theological issues are separate from political issues. Can either of you comprehend that? Is there a Baptist solution to global warming? Is one better qualified or less well qualified to negotiate peace in the Middle East if one is a Mormon? Grow up, gentlemen...you're in the big leagues now.

Me thinks the Huckster is a bit cockeyed, both literally and philosophically speaking.

Like legal cannibalism. Go for it, boys. After you trash each other, we can watch Rudy decompose without help from anyone.

Can they have an election, anyway, if there IS no GOP candidate left on the ballot?
