AP:

Republican presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee, an ordained Southern Baptist minister, asks in an upcoming article, "Don't Mormons believe that Jesus and the devil are brothers?"

The article, to be published in Sunday's New York Times Magazine, says Huckabee asked the question after saying he believes Mormonism is a religion but doesn't know much about it. His rival Mitt Romney, the former Massachusetts governor, is a member of the Mormon church, which is known officially as the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

I absolutely love it...two guys who think there a little closer to "God" and have the answers for everything...amazing how religion preaches respect and love for your fellow man...and then uses war and death to enforce it - priceless!!!!!!!!

Mormonism IS a ridiculous religion. No more ridiculous than straight christianity with its belief in ritual cannibalism. If you really believe the trans-substantiation doctrine that's what you're doing at the end of mass, drinhking real blood, and eating real flesh. Yech.
Christianity is a manifestly false religion.Zuess is the one true god. Hail Zuess!

It seems wrong to have a discussion like this in a presidential race. This has everything to do with theology and our constitution was written, partly to prevent a theocracy from ruling our nation. We have to knock this emotional shit off and get down to the issues at hand and there are big, important ones to discuss.

What a screwed up country ... if these two mental cases are in national prominence as candidates for our leader, it is the US populace which should be quarantined from the world.

I have witnessed miracles..

The spider web stretching from my deck to the pine tree several feet away.

An older white man being helped by a young black man to push his stalled car through traffic a couple of years after the Rodney King incident.

A cashier at a Rite-Aid being kind and pleasant to a homeless man who was buying all that he could afford to eat that day,a bag of chips, counting his change in a quiet and self conscious way.

I have witnessed the opposite in the likes of Huckabee and the the religious extremists from ALL the monotheistic faiths.

In them I only see fear, hatred, ignorance, bigotry, racism and minds that hide in a self righteous cellar..dark and grim.

1957: There is no path to reality. Reality is a pathless land, and you must venture out and discover it for yourself. It is because you are frightened inwardly that you depend on something, on the priest, or on a belief, and so you get caught in the net of an organized religion.

"For those who want to know how Governor Romney's faith informs his values, they can look at how he lives his life and how he has raised his family,"

Uh-huh. Like tying the family dog to the top of the car while they're driving down the road? I guess that's better than just dragging the dog...

Except for the very first quote, the article seems to portray Huckabee as trying his best not to make an issue out of this, while answering a barage of questions about it. He's obviously ignorant about Mormonism. So am I. If what our leaders' faith is not supposed to make a difference to us, how come it does?

I don't care what Huckabee thinks about Mormonism, or what Romney thinks about Baptists - though God (the real one) help us if either is elected - but this seems to be a non-story.

Unless there are other versions of the story.

Utah, the most Republican state, is going to find out the rest of the religious GOP doesn't like them.

Especially Arkansas where Huckabee is from, when they remember the Mountain Meadow Massacre.
